More accessible than I expected but I guess folk metal can be that way, especially when not at Moonsorrow track/album lengths. I identified the last two tracks as the real strength of the album much like you did--beautiful melodies and mixes of instrumentation and vocal styles.

:lol: Not a very rainbow-y group really. They had a Nokturnal Mortum cover on their last album and Varggoth guested on the one before that...

I never listened to much Meads, will have to change that soon. Shame about Varggoth though, no matter how anti BM Rainbows I might be, that guy has written some egregious lyrics. There is a reason why Drudkh is still on Spotify and NM isn't!
