Very good stuff Goat! The prog label had me a little worried, but the review talked far more about Oranssi Pazuzu which put me at ease. I understand why Hail Spirit Noir needs two keyboardists: some really fun and interesting things going with these two bands and keyboards, which are not cheesy or thin sounding. A couple tracks in the middle didn't grab me (sorry as I've said Lazare isn't my cup of tea) but Incense Swirls starts the album off very well and Automata is a dreamy, mesmerizing closer. Unsurprisingly I prefer the dark of Oranssi to the light of Hail Spirit, (Oranssi Pazuzu and Code Orange are likely to remain my 1 and 2 for the rest of this year), but I could see this slotting into my top 5 with Thy Catafalque.

Glad to read you liked them over in NP. They and Oranssi have really set the bar in making keys cool in 2020.
