I've only listened to the tracks available online thus far (Footsteps, Iwsya, Dead Feelings) but based on your review, that selection isn't that overly representative of the goth rock/metal angle away from the prog black death I was expecting. Peter Benjamin seems to have massively improved as a clean singer, and maybe explain part of the change into softer terrain. What the band is doing remains quite interesting (Benjamin and Gray primarily) but the preview tracks and your review confirm that is not the recording I was hoping for. But I guess the guys in this band and Akercocke are just getting old...like the rest of us. I did find Footsteps to be incredibly compelling, and if they want to go entirely in that direction next time, I'll back it 100%. Still I can't help but wonder why they didn't go in the direction of the single they released ahead of time in Petrograph, seems like they balanced the past and the future directions of the band more evenly on that one.
