Seems interesting. Their last album left a really bad taste in my mouth. But the art work and your review has me intrigued. I might come around this and purchase it if I see it at HMV by any chance and give it a proper go. Thanks monsieur Zad.

I didn't know about this until today when I saw it on a new release list. I'm so excited! I loved the last two albums and from the review I'm guessing I will love this too! Btw I have been freaking out on Blood Mantra. That album is so groovy and the guitar work is epic. It's very Meshuggah esque, but I'm actually impressed when artists are inspired by their peers. Dodheimsgard has always been a band that pushed the envelope also so I am really excited to hear this album.

I'm not ashamed to admit that this album is a little over my head at first listen. It's probably a good thing, but seems somewhat all over the place. Maybe after additional listens it will coalesce for me. His voice was always jarring, but on this release it's so upfront that it's especially jarring. I can't help but wonder what it would sound like with some melodic vocals during some of the beautifully written guitar melodies. The compositions are impressive, but so fragmented they seem to lack cohesion at times for me. It's definitely not a catchy at first listen album for me, but I wasn't necessarily expecting that either. I'm guessing that I just haven't reached the place I need to be to understand what is happening on this album yet. I just thought I would share my first listen thoughts in case anyone else is having the same thoughts. It's obviously a massively ambitious effort from a very creative and original artist. There's is nothing out there that compares to Dodheimsgard. It's like music from another dimension.

I really dug this. Mad genius band IMO.

Architect of Darkness was so jarring that it actually frustrated me.
