Which bands would you compare this to?

I don't want to speak for Alex, but Thomas have you ever heard the Borknagar albums for which Vintersorg was on vocals? He has a very distinct voice, to say the least. His own band emphasized the folk melodies over the more progressive nature of Borknagar, I would say, Vintersorg era Borknagar provides a nice starting point of comparison.

This album for me was Vintersorg's best since Focusing Blur, and something I'd give a 77-78. My only problem with the album is sometimes the melodies get a little too bouncy, and like any Vintersorg vocalized album, I get a little tired of his clean vocals by the end; however the more mixed tracks that feature the black metal riffs/drums/vocals, like Rymdens brinnade oar, were really, really good.

Gave this a listen earlier and enjoyed it a lot - reminds me of a less busy Solefald, one happy to slow down and let the music breathe. Good stuff.
