How does it compare to Black Gives Way To Blue?

Damn, good point. I didn't really cover that. Dinosaurs has a very similar sound, though I felt William DuVall's vocals more often took a back seat to Jerry's. Obviously it's slower-paced than the last album, but I actually thought the slowest songs on Black Gives Way To Blue were awesome, main difference is it had some more upbeat ones, too. Overall I have to say that so far I've enjoyed the last album slightly more than this one. It might grow on me more though, only time will tell.

One listen into this album, and I like it a lot. Probably not up to BGWTB, though...

I agree with this post, having just listened to it.

This is how it's always been, though, even when Layne was in the band. People don't seem to understand just how much Jerry sang and Layne didn't.

It's a good album but I wouldn't say that it's as good as BGWTB. I also feel that the slower songs on BGWTB were very strong and I found that I enjoyed them more than the rest of the songs on that album. 'Private Hell' being a great stand out. TDPDH is AIC but it's lacking something special that resides on BGWTB, at least in my opinion.
