I got bored of Shining (I still love V: Halmstad, obviously). Nethertheless, I sampled a few snippets from various tracks (mostly those credited to be "killer tracks"). I'm sure it'll appeal to Shining's devotees, it didn't do it for me.

For me, the guitarwork was always the standout: basically it was Dance of December Souls era Katatonia done over the course of several albums: an outlet for those of us that thought Katatonia changed sound too early. Zad's review makes me think that nothing changed in that guitar focus, so I might give it a listen. Thanks for the review.

Sounds pretty good, definitely something a return to past albums (and sounding more like Shining) as compared to their previous experiment, "Under a Saturn Retrograde". As autothrall said on metal-archives: "this album was damage control", and it does that well. As Zad noted, this album is about the guitars, and that is what I want from FT.
