Part of me is curious. But then everyone always says "new Sepultura is awesome and back to Thrash" and then I listen to it and it's more of the same half baked drivel. Derrick's voice is awful too.

Luckily I haven't brought an album since Roots.

Cool. I enjoyed A-lex. Excited for this.

Meh.
Sorry to say I'm over these guys.
Still love Beneath the Remains, Roots and Chaos AD, but it kinda ended there for me.

At this point, I'm afraid to listen to new Sepultura, since it'll put me off the old classics.

I'd like to think that Sepultura is better than the hundreds of '3 records and done' bands....but, really.....

It's worth a go, if nothing else. Certainly much better than what we've come to expect from Sepultura post-Max - being afraid to try it is nuts.

I couldn't agree more with this review. Kairos is great and is the most consistent album they've released since the mid-90's.

I was pleasantly surprised by this album, far better than A-Lex and Dante XXI.

Spot on review! Beneath the remains being my favourite sepultura album I'm overjoyed to hear those heavy palm muted fat riffs again. Not very technical or progressive but that's good. Like in the old days. Perfect for headbanging and drinking beer. And yes the solos are really like 80 slayer or sepultura solos. First sepultura album I bought since roots (which I gave away - not thrashy enough).

Had a listen to it. Very uninspired especially when compared to new Soulfly/Cavalera Conspiracy.

I usually like Roy Z production but this sounded a bit flat.

Kinda prefer A-Lex to it after just one listen. Stripping it down in terms of weak tracks and interludes when I'm at home might do it a favor. Quality riffs that will surely grow on me and you saying Green is a better vocalist might be right. Hmm...

Listened to this today and it was pretty solid. It's not going to be Max-era, but damn the groove is awesome on this album. These are really great tracks that although are a bit too long and not to the point enough are just really good. I was tapping my pen and feet along with each track. The album never really drops off in quality as much as it overstays its welcome. And that sucks, taking away from the album as a whole, but it's not a major problem. A few tracks cut and each track hemmed in a bit would make this album amazing. And I don't think as is it contends at all with Blunt Force Trauma, but if it had been edited down I think it definitely would have put up a fight.

Do I think they could do such a thing on their next album? Definitely given how this is already much more stripped down and direct than A-Lex. Let's hope the next time, they get it right.
