To be perfectly honest, I don't like this album as much as IE's other stuff. I just could never get into it much... the title track is not bad but the only real exception that makes this album a must is Dante's Inferno. That song is just out of this world. What an epic!

One of my favourites. Burnt Offerings, Brainwashed and Dante's Inferno are incredible.

I really do love this album and the dark feel it has going for it, and I think it has some of Iced Earth's best songs, like Burnt Offerings, Last December, Dante's Inferno and Brainwashed, and there's no song I dislike, but for some reason I don't come back to this one as much as I do to Night of the Stormrider or Something Wicked.

Still.. 81/100. And Dante's Inferno rules, though its infinitely better on Alive in Athens.

don't forget it is about "spawn" (which is based on the poem). And the brilliant artwork is by the creator of spawn

That's the Dark Saga not Burnt Offerings.

Ditto.

And I can't even explain that, because there is some fantastic stuff on it. I suppose its just not as immediate as the rest of their catalogue.

Yeah, I know!

I really don't know. It does start out well with the title track... but the rest of the album until Dante's Inferno just tends to blend in the background for me. Personally, I don't really find anything to Brainwashed... but like I said, that's just me. I tend to have opinions that are different from most people. I'll like the song people like the least and hate the one that everyone likes and stuff... but it's not voluntary, I swear! :P

I'll raise.

Not a fan of Dante's Inferno. I know its impressive from a composition stand point. But No chorus? Pfffft. Its no fun, I only really like the very end.

The rest of the album I do like though for the most part.

I think Dante's Inferno is the best song on this CD, but the whole album is lacking from the IMO bad production. The guitar sound is just a little weak and it sounds cavernous (compared to Night of the Stormrider or Dark Saga). The Days of Purgatory versions are sounding better.

I disagree.

in my opinion that song is much better than any new conceptual songs made by shaffer. it gives you the chills.

I'm aware that my opinion is the minority in this instance.

Which I believe makes your opinion racist. Shame on you.

I like the first two songs, but they took so long to get into It will be a while until I have a valid opinion on this album. I give the first two songs a 9 out of 10.

Brainwashed is pretty lame/cheesy IMO.. The rest of the album is awesome.. Burning Oasis and Creator Failure are probably my favorites as well as Last December...

Great album, but still.... Dante's Inferno. Didn't truly appreciate how epic this song is until I heard it live. Easily among Schafer's best.

"Dante's Inferno" is absolutely brilliant. And it has no chorus! That's crazy. It's unfortunate Schaffer refuses to acknowledge most of this album, especially live. I don't care if he was in a "dark" period and doesn't to relive it or whatever. Play the fucking songs, you dink!

And what dingleberry labeled this thrash? Not even close.
