Nice review, great music, awful cover. Bad thing is, the "Riot" song is too good for its own good. The rest of the album feels a little... dunno, its good, but it's no Thundersteel.

A shame about Mark R., I was hoping another album with this line-up

Yeah, I agree. Good album nonetheless.

I would have given this a higher score. It's absolutely wonderful.

it was riding right at 90 for me, but Insanity and Believe brought it down for me a bit. Interestingly enough, however, unlike so many other power/heavy metal albums lately (and I don't even listen to that many) Immortal Soul had me coming back to it, and not only I felt I am due a commemorative review.

Wow, you don't like "Insanity?" That might be my favorite song on the album, that or "Whiskey Man."

This is up for best album of the year for me. The vocals are amazing. I do agree he sounds a slight bit over exerted on Believe and Insanity, but then again I felt Bruce Dickinson sounded over exerted a few times on recent albums and I got past it cause it's so minimal and Iron Maiden's recent albums are some of the best ever. Starblind is my current favorite song and you can tell he was pushing it on that one. Anyway, point is, this album is about as close to perfect as it gets for me. I can listen to the whole thing all the way through and never skip a song or get bored. It really mixes it up. My personal favorites are Whiskey Man, Crawling, Riot, Wings are for Angels, and Fall before me. This album reminds me of summer for some reason. Maybe it's the theme of comradare and good times of certain songs. Now to issue of Mark Reale. This album aptly titled Immortal Soul is a testament to one of the greatest song writers and guitar players of all time. His soul will be Immortal in the hearts and ears of us all forever. R.I.P. my friend. We will all miss you.

I've been listening to the album pretty regularly lately, and I have to say, I don't hear the slightest bit of exertion in his voice. He has aged a bit, so he can't always sing high, but when he does, he fuckin nails it. Insanity, particularly in the chorus, is a perfect example. He hits every note and sings perfectly throughout the whole song. I suggest you listen to it again. Tony Moore sings flawlessly throughout the whole album.
