Have only heard the samples on Amazon, but agree this sounds like a big step back in the right direction for PF.
They changed labels to Frontiers after Seven Seals and I feel like Frontiers is known more as an 80's revival label than a metal label. Not sure how much influence the label has, but that's exactly what I heard and disliked about the last two albums. They seemed to drift away from straight up metal, and certainly the darker vibe of Seven Seals (their best album IMO), to more of a blatantly 80's worshipping---bordering on cock rock---sound on NR and 16.6 (though I do like a few tracks on each).
To carry on the Priest analogy . . . to me the last two PF albums had more in common with Turbo than Painkiller or SFV.
Looking forward to this release.
Pretty much agree with everything you said. The Priest analogies are endless when it comes to PF. I will say that 6 Times Dead from the previous album is fantastic. Not speed metal, but a head banger from hell.
