Remembering the historical context of this album shows that it was a fresh step for the band, as well as evidence of Swedish death metal being evident in some of the faster portions as in "On darkened wings" and "Burn my coffin". Joakim the vocalist is also clearly inexperienced when compared to the mighty Mortuus or even Legion, as his shrieks come across as green and untrained. Yet the riffs themselves are some the band would never yet again attempt, Dark Endless and Those of the unlight and to a lesser extent Opus show the band at their most fertile in terms of ideas. I love this album
