Its a sad day when dogshit like BMTH scores within ten points of both Deicide and Morbid Angel. Not to tarnish this thread with the mention of BMTH, but songs such as Lions Den and Sworn to black immediately cement this as a classic, Great album

Now, Mortification, there is a classic.

Seriously though, nice review Zad. As you noted, people hold the first two in higher regard, but this is the one to reach for when wanting to listen to MA. As far as quintessential death metal albums go, this is at the top of the list: it is a collection of great songs.

"In Emptiness...." :dio: :dio:

I guess I must be the only one that considers this sub par.
I liked Domination better, and from there it was a pretty steady downward spiral.

Altars of Madness doesn't have a single boring moment on it and is there best work ever. This album is good but not great. Songs like Rapture and Angel of Disease are fucking good, but there's definitely some dull moments on this album. I'd give this album a 90.

The video for God of Emptiness is probably the only metal video that is not ridiculous... Good album, one of my fav, probably because it was my first exposure to Morbid Angel.

What, the black-and-white one where they all make intense METAL faces and there's some weird winged demon thing? Pretty ridic. if you ask me, but very cool too.

Don't remember the winged demon; but yes, it was b&w. I do remember an old man that looked very evil and metal. Comparing this video to some of Immortal's, Judas Priest or even the recently reviewed Last in Line video of the mighty Dio, and you'll see that God of Emptiness is awesome :P

The part when Dio's lightsabered the balls of the android is a priceless moment in metal's history! :dio:

Clearly the oddest opinion you've ever espoused on the forums before.
