James LaBrie surprises with a very good album. Hopefully DT will do the same.

I have enjoyed his solo slbums more than DT's recent efforts, maybe with Portnoy gone JLB will get to contribute more.

I liked Elements of Persuasion more. The screamy vocals annoy me a little and I feel like they are used way to much. That said though I do enjoy some of the album. Coming Home is my favorite song on the album which is weird, as its the ballad. Read in an interview LaBrie was inspired by the show Dexter when writing the song, odd.

I probably prefer EOP mainly due to the screams on this one, which I don't think were necessary but hey they work. I suppose they just wanted to do something different, and maybe score some new fans.

EOP was a masterpiece. So it is hard to live up to.

Those songs followed me around and haunted me and it was pure ecstasy to get a new copy of the CD after wearing out the promo way back when. That was one of those albums you need to hear or you go crazy.

I'm looking forward to the new album, but let's be honest, the first album left a definite mark on me.
