this dogshit gets an 86 percent, well too each their own I suppose, way too many recycled third rate Iced earth riffs here. Not to mention the lyrical content is absurd, like some diary written by the kook Alex Jones. Quite possibly one of the worst albums I've heard this year, though Iced Earth have never been all that good save Burnt offerings

Anyway, I kinda want to listen to this more, I've heard about half of it and thought it was average at best.

Feeling that the review may not make it clear enough...anyone going into this record with a hope for a gigantic barrage of IE-style chuggachugga-locomotive riffs or...predominantly fast/thrashy material overall will easily be disappointed.

And especially about the political lyrical content...for me it undoubtedly lifted the quote. If such a theme/artist motivation isn't usually up your alley than go in with a mindset of at least 10-15 points less from what I gave.

I usually don't arse myself about making addendums like this at all as opinions are like assholes etc. but for some reason with this particular album I felt compelled.

Jon Schaffer has made a kickass record and lets you download it for FREE on the bands webpage and says he wants people to spread and copy the album. Bam Bam two blue eyes for the fat cats in the corrupt music industry and for this great gesture alone you should buy the album or give him a donation to his paypal account!

The music is great and the lyrical content is simply amazing. What is better way to educate and motivate people than make a fierce headbanging tune like Creature from Jeckyl Island which explains how the private federal reserve is making a fortune and taking control through this crisis. Presidential candidate Ron Paul says his biggest mission is to get legislation through that will let the congress AUDIT the federal reserve. Yes, the federal reserve is printing the US dollar and making contracts with foreigh governments and corporations, but neither the congress or senate have any clue what they are doing! The same goes with European Central Bank. This is the reason why the absolute 0,01% elite keep getting richer and the bridge between these people and the rest will keep getting bigger and not even the worst extreme socialistic legislation will change that fact. The JFK solution was to nationalize the federal reserve and let the private banks borrow money with interest from the state-owned centralbank rather than the other way around. It's currently a Bernie Madoff ponzyscheme or to quote Amsel Rothchild "Let us control the money of a nation, and we care not who makes its laws" and so the Americans did in 1913 through the federal reserve act.

Do you work for him? Sounds like you do or that you have such a biased opinion that it would be impossible for any reasonable-minded person to accept your comments as genuine.

The Alex Jones links on his website had me pretty "meh". Don't think much of this record, tbh.

All Heavy Metal lyrics are absurd. It's part of the appeal.

The bulk of the lyrical subject matter involves:

1. Gore
2. Murder and bloodshed
3. War albeit in a cliched manner "war is bad man." And according to metal bands, modern warfare often involves a "clash of blades."
4. Heavy Metal
5. Vikings and Pirates
6. Cliched left leaning irrational anti-capitalist ranting.
7. Even more irrational anti-societal rantings
8. "Woe is me" shit
9. Neo-nazi ranting if one is into the NSBM scene.
10. Anti-religion crap.
11. Nuclear warfare - cause that like happens all the time if you believe the lyrics written by thrash bands.

One doesn't listen to heavy metal if they want intelligent lyrics.

Even bands with "serious" lyrics usually just dribble on standard lefty leaning crap.

The daft irony is that heavy metal is such a capitalist genre with a greater emphasis on merchandise sales than most other genres of music (I've never heard of Dido shoes or Gomez belt buckles).

The anti-religion ranting is also hilarious. To put it simply most bands live in secular societies where religion is completely optional. Try being anti-religious say in Saudi Arabia, Iran or middle age Europe and you'll see true religious oppression.

I love heavy metal and one of the main reasons is it's completely juvenile take on everything.

In many ways the lyrics are written by people who are still about 15 years old in terms of maturity.

And I love it!

I don't see what's wrong with the album. Sure it's not Iced Earth but that's the whole point in doing something else that's different than your own band is it not when it comes to side/solo projects?

I didn't see anyone complain much when Jon does Demons & Wizards. And no one complains that D&W doesn't sound like Blind Guardian neither.

I think this is a good album. Nice and heavy not IE heavy but heavy nonetheless. And Jon is such an underrated vocalist.

I'm really curious about it. I didn't like the last 2 IE albums because they were too layered and pompous yet lacked good strong songs.

I disagree. I thought the Something Wicked albums were very epic. I'm sure if they stuck with one vocalist instead of having 2 different singers on each album it would have been much more flowing and consistent.

Iced Earth and in general Jon Schaffer lyrics are pretty retarded, intelligent lyrics can be found in Fates Warning and Holy Terror albums...
