Goddammit with you....

This album should be placed in the classic section. An important piece of Black Metal history everyone liking the genre should hear.

I just can't stand the vocals on it, end of story.

I would tentatively put it in a Classic category. I don't like it all that much personally, but I see why it's regarded as one of the BM greats.

The review seems a bit rushed in ways but wholly understandable, as for being cheaply recorded it does incredibly dark. I really need to give it a spin as I haven't heard it in years, but I'll say an eighty is a horribly low score for this album.

That's why I said I might get flamed. B/c another reviewer on here could easily place it on a classic level, but the vocals and the slow pace just didn't do it for me. Still a great album though.

Shit review, shit score, shit decision to put it in the archive section.

Sorry dude. This is undeniably a classic. Of course you're entitled to your opinion but your opinion is wrong.

I don't think I've ever actually listened to this all the way through. It's kinda... boring. *ducks*

I didn't know an opinion could be wrong. Isn't the point of an opinion to be exactly that, a personal opinion. Like I said, I would be flamed, because someone else might put in in a classic category. I explained exactly why I don't think it's a classic. It's too slow and monotonous, and the vox just killed it for me.

It may be a classic, but it's not a metal reviews CLASSIC. Listening again, it all came flooding back - I have listened before, and although it's odd and eccentric and the vocals truly are ridic- er, I mean impressively evil and frightening, it's not that great all in all. I'd probably give it something similar to you, actually.

Anyone with a little bit of knowledge of black metal and its history would consider this a classic. You have every right not to like it, but that doesn't mean you can deny how unique and important this album is, that is where you are wrong. 17 years since its release and very few albums can reach the evil atmosphere of this album. And people have tried to be this atmospheric. This album is influential.

I cannot deny the foreboding evil atmosphere that this album brings forth and I certainly agree that this is an extremely influential album. But as a reviewer I am asked to review the music itself and not so much the impact and in this case the vox and some other aspects turned me off. In retrospect, I certainly should have scored it higher, and I knew someone would grab me by the throat for this, but just as many people will agree as will disagree on the musical prowess displayed here. No one, however, will dispute the impact this album had.

So this brings up that old question: are the Classic reviews supposed to be for Classic albums or Classic albums that the reviewer also believes are nigh-on perfect?

it's a classic black metal album but not a metal classic

if this was called black metal reviews.com it should definitely be a classic but since this place is just called metalreviews.com it just deserves a high score so that any idiot who can use the internet and hasn't heard of beherit yet can check it out.
