Big chocolate is a horrible vocalist.. that being said calling oneself a "true metalhead" and bashing this band hardly equates for much.. If you want a better slam death metal album check out Devourment's Buthcer the weak or any of the work by Internal Bleeding. At least this band's demos are better than this from what I recall however "Abrogations crown" being just as brutal as they come. I'll have to check this out in order to better formulate an opinion

I'm with Steve on this one. Having the album I wouldn't call it absolutely terrible, but its certainly no godsend either. If you don't like death metal or Slam( better known amongst a fan such as myself as Slamming Death Metal) I wouldn't bother doing a review man. I'm sorry if you've been through some shit recently but to just try and take it out on something you're unfamiliar with is just absurd. I would actually prefer to see you do some normal reviews to better see what you enjoy and generally qualify as quality music.

From what I gather you would do well to stay away from this style of music, since you generalized death metal and claimed a certain appreciation for Black metal. Not that I don't myself, its just I wouldn't think of doing a review for something I didn't enjoy or know much about without doing some research first. Like Steve said, there are so much better Slam bands out there, but its not something the unexpecting can just jump into, with its primate grooves being near lethal doses of barbaric simplicity. But to claim the whole genre is simple would do it a diservice. Hope this comes off kindly man, I ook forward to more reviews.

For a basic definition imagine all of the breakdowns from Suffocation's Effigy of the forgotten, slowed down and dumbed by 100% from Hobbs original riffing. Add a few grindish bits, as the slams are slightly resemble hardcore grooves and make the entire foundation of the music groove. I'll warn you there are a great deal of shitty acts out there, but the better ones happen to be Devourment, Dripping, and uh..well that's it in my opinion. Hehe, its a genre that is meant to be oriented solely for the pit, there really isn't much else to know about it, just stay way from shit like Cephalotripsy and Torsofuck and you'll be fine

Thanks Steve, very informative stuff! And nice reference to something we've probably all heard. The subgenre doesn't quite sound like my thing though.

Isn't that cover a picture from the last Silent Hill game? I believe it's called Homecoming. It uses the same font anyway.

I'm listening to this album now after doing some last.fm'ing today and I don't see how this deserves a 5... It's pretty cool, actually. I like the industrial elements ( It's not heavy with them, though. ) and even though the production was sort of a turn off at first I'm starting to like it.

This is fairly fun stuff that's a definitely breath of fresh air at least for me... You can check your head in at the door, get your headbang on, and yet the tracks don't go on too long or become stale. Plus they're mixing it up a bit here, this isn't generic stuff ( At least to me, I'm not familiar with this genre if it really even is one... Sounds like brutal death metal here with some grindcore to me for the most part. ).

Plus the vocals are killer.

Anyway, not saying this thing is an absolute winner but I'd sit it around a 70/100.

Exactly.

Missed this review the first time around. I'm a fan of Big Chocolate so total fanboy review here but his vocals on this album are not unordinary in this genre. The diversity of growls and piercing screams a la Corpsegrinder simply is not existent in the genre. It's basically all those low belches stretched out. That's simply what all the bands in the genre do which reflects the ignorance of the reviewer to be quite honest. I also don't think it is simply keyboards but I could be wrong. I might give this a 60/100 but it is nowhere near a 5.
