Nice review, :)

I'm sure both Johan and Anders will be amused at being called a "young" band, considering that they both are 32 ;)

Anders plays in Waningalso btw.

.:crast:.

Oh, and any lower growl on the CD is done by yours truly, ;)

Hah, I think you understood what I meant by young.

Anyway, good job by you as well.

Crast, one thing I find funny, is that you're involved with this band and support them, but trashed on The Amenta. The Endless Void sounds like something The Amenta would do.

Wow, you got some memory! I had to search for threads regarding Amenta to find what I had said.

Anyway, "trashed on The Amenta" I think is going a bit far, no? My primary objection was that they didn't blow my mind and that the vocals were a bit meh.

As far as similarities between Amenta and Obitus I can agree to a certain extent that there are portions that might sound a bit similar, but overall Obitus have a much much faster and harder sound. There is no doubt that Obitus is black metal, where Amenta can most likely be pigeonholed into many genres.

As a vocalist I tend to focus much on vocals when I get an opinion on bands, and after listening to all the songs on the Amenta MySpace I must say that I stand by my original review of the vocals: "meh". (I'm not saying that I or my brother would fit better as vocalists in Amenta, I just don't like his vocals.)

But each to his own, Amenta seem to be getting quite some attention now, and if they drop by Holland/Sweden I'll make a point in seeing them.

.:crast:.

edit: The song "Slave" is actually quite cool.

I wasn't making a direct comparison, just noting that there were some similarities. I haven't found that among many bands so I just wanted to point it out.

I really enjoy this album so please let your mates know that some dude in the middle of the US is spreading the word on the album. :)
