I think you're being a bit harsh on this. Then again, I don't hide I tend to like this kind of stuff. I give you points for choosing Kingfisher over this, though. Hallway of Dreams is such a great album. As for Delain, I think this one is good but I prefer the debut. The songs with Marco (Hietala) and Sharon (WT) on the debut really kick ass.

I imagine this is something of a business move for Ken, but if you dig through his inventory there, he's got a soft spot for this sort of thing.

I really dig this band. Fairly generic, really, but they produce some solid songs which make for a great listen. Kingfisher Sky is really good, too, though quite different (I know you weren't comparing).

Thumbs up from me. And I'd like to hump the singer, dry or otherwise. I'm not picky.

I gave this a listen today and I feel that it's a decent enough album for Delain. I wouldn't have expected anything to have sounded any different. I never got the impression that Delain was going to set the 'Symphonic/Gothic/Rock' world on fire anyway. The singer is fantastic but the music is rather generic for the genre. I had the same complaints about Angtoria's album "God Has a Plan For Us All.' Great voice but the music just withered on the vine and began to sound the same in almost every song.

The review is pretty much dead on. The only addendum I would make would be to add 'Nothing Left' to the 'killer songs' list.
