YES! Manson is a seriously underrated artist.

I would give this album a 79; not an 89. There's quite a few songs that I skip.

Still a good record.

My first Manson album and I like it. Disassociative and Last Day On Earth are personal favs. I would give it a 75/100. This album has some weak tracks, especially User Friendly. I hate that track. New Model, Dope Show are weak too. Coma White starts off well, but the chorus sucks. It could've been better. I like the depressive and atmospheric feel of this album.

Manson deserves to be called Metal as much as, say, Pain or Rammstein. Sure it's industrial, but just because he's on fucking MTV doesn't mean he's can't be Metal.

Is John5 on this album? Terrific guitar player.

I never really liked him too, it took the Best Of for me to actually actively want to get him. It was just a lot of catchy songs that I listened to over and over until I understood the ulterior atmosphere he's trying to create. Manson isn't a singer, he's an artist, and there's a whole lot more to his albums than just "music".

Good to see Skinny Puppy getting kudos. Must get around to doing something of theirs.

As for MM, never seen the greatness, but never thought it was as dreadful as troo metalheads think, either.

+1... Some songs are really good (The beautiful ones, Tourniquet), but I can dig him only in small dosis.

This is probably my lesser favorite of the 3 I have by him. There are some sure winners, like The Last Day On Earth, Coma White, and Great Big White World, but like DM said, there are a few songs don't do much for me. 89 is way to high, I would give it more around a 65.

Holy Wood is probably my favorite of his.

Interesting. I bought Holy Wood long before I got this one and it never really did much for me. It definitely has its good songs but it doesn't flow nicely the way this one does in my opinion. When I finally got around to listening to this older album it blew me away in comparison. That being said perhaps I did rate it a little too high, but I still wouldn't give it less than a 79.

Holy Wood is more dynamic and varied to me. It's got some awesome pissed off heavy tracks like "Burning Flag" and "The Fight Song" and "The Death Song," it's got some nice slow songs like the title track, and "The Nobodies," and most of the other somehwere-in-between songs kick ass too. Granted, some of it can be a bit boring, and Coma Black can't hold a candle to it's predecessor, but I love how the album is a response to the Columbine shooting, especially because he was blamed quite a bit for it.

Holy Wood I believe reminded me of Ministry. This album isn't bad. 60/100.

Barely listenable in my opinion. And this has nothing to do with him being on MTV or anything like that. His vocal work is dreadful and his band (which I dont consider to be "metal" at all) are not the most talented bunch around in the industrial rock scene. I can say that this album is probably his best work if you're into this genre and has a more mature sound to it, but that doesnt mean that it is any good IMO.

My score : 50/100.
