Nice review but I cannot believe that there are no mention of Mark Ribot's participation...

So, okay, this album IS a lot of fun. Not nearly as chaotic, as it sounds on the first spin, when you tamed it. And it sure is nice to see such a record by a true avantgarde figure such as John Zorn be reviewed here.

But, damnit, what happened to Marc Ribot????????

PS: Marc Ribot plays the guitar on 9X9...

Ah, yes, forgot to mention him. Not really familiar enough with who he is, honestly, although I've heard the name.

May I suggest you to listen to Zorn's book of angels vol.7, Asmodeus.
It features Marc Ribot, Trevor Dunn and drummer G. Calvin Weston. Hell! You can even review it, it's so furious it'll fit on MR. :dio:

One thing you should know, Zorn's works are very varied. From contemporary classical to free jazz, from punk to klezmer, etc.
If you want furious Zorn, I advise you to start with Naked City.

Just downloaded the Naked City discog. Its awesome from what I've heard so far. I was surprised to see that he performed with Mick Harris, Dave Lombardo and Mike Patton. I saw a video of him jamming with Buckethead. This dude is awesome. I'm so glad I got to experience this......sound. :dio:
