Their pseudo-intellectual monologues make you understand why your parents tell you to stay in school.

And Echobrain is decent if not great.

Nice to see someone else taking Lars' side (after all, deciding which side you're on is part of the fun). Kirk's "come ahhhhhhhhhnnnnn guyzzzzzzz..." bit is one of the most pathetic displays ever by a metal musician.

"Win a buncha muneeey" lol

Personally, I really enjoyed watching this. It was fun and kind of relieving seeing why St. Anger turned out to be the crap fest that it is.

I really felt sad for Dave Mustaine. I always saw him as an asshole but seeing him all whiny and emotional made an impact on me.

And this improved my suspicion that Kirk is a homosexual. Not that it's a bad thing but really, it's pretty obvious.

What would ever give that idea? Cowboy Kirk was the picture of hetero-ness.

This was just as, if not more, entertaining than Megadeth's Behind the Music. Bob Rock is such a chode. I love how he turns on Newsted the moment he's gone. What a piece of crap.

I saw a bit of this, and it really made me laugh to see the state of mind they were in making the worst album of the past decade.

Lars thinking really hard about what he's saying to not sound like a total dumbass, going all, "I think... that... we're at a point where... the guitar solo is... a little... maybe... outdated."

Then Kirk being awesome and going all "That's bullshit, if we get rid of the guitar solo, then we'd be following this fucking trend. That's bullshit."

And Lars saying, "No, no, what I meant... was... that we're all about doing... something different... and we'd be doing what's expected of us... if we did... guitar solos."

Funny stuff.

Really liked this movie. I'm always fascinated by the behind-the-scenes and personal stuff that goes on with Metallica.

Well, there was always a rumor about it anyways. I dunno, it just looks like it. They way he talks and acts outside the stage.

Not that there's anything wrong with being gay.

Oh, I agree. I was attempting to be sarcastic.

I really really enjoyed this movie. As an engineer I think its essential viewing to see "the process"

Save for Newstead and Trujillo, everyone in this movie came off looking like complete and utter tools. It was just a horrible display all-around, and I would never ever put myself through the agony of watching it again. Watching a mid life crisis on film is rather disturbing.

"Not that you can blame him, after being offered $1 million to join Metallica immediately, with a percentage of future earnings… hell, I’d join Nickleback for a tenth of that!"

I watched it again a few days ago, it's a great documentary for which you did a great review, Zadok.
Well done!

Btw, I noticed Lulu has not been reviewed yet, how come?

Cheers! Forgot I wrote this up, bit of a blast from the past!

And frankly I don't want to sit through it again, assume that's everyone else's reasoning too! Maybe I'll come back to it and see if it deserves reassessment in the coming weeks, but frankly it's not a priority and I'd rather review Metal Machine Music in tribute to Lou Reed than Lulu...

I quite "enjoyed" Lulu actually. Can't say I've listened to it many times but, the about four spins I gave it, I liked how beautifully ugly it was. Maybe I should do it, after all.

This movie killed what little love I had left for Metallica. Very depressing.
