I've heard a lot of praise for this album and being a sucker for female vocalists, I gave it a listen and am glad I skipped on this. As much as I still enjoy power metal, this feels way too watered down and awkward at times. The songs are too short and as much as Heidi is an obviously skilled vocalist, the vocal lines are too predictable and it feels to me like she's trying too hard to imitate the likes of Tarja or Simone.

For some great more-or-less obscure but awesome female vocalists in power metal, try instead Ebony Ark. If you can stand gothic-ish stuff, go for Delain... or the criminally unknown and underrated Dakrua (Inner Wastelands, their debut, released back in 1999, is what the genre sound sound like to me).

I gave the CD a listen this morning over at Lala.com. The singer does have a great voice but the songwriting and arrangements (although performed incredibly well) sounds very generic. Zad you got it right.

If you're into the operatic voice combined with gothic metal elements then give Midnattsol's new CD Nordlys a listen. It's by far a better offering.

Ah, I found a bigger picture of the cover. It's standard power metal crap. She's holding the hilt of a sword. That's not too cliche'.
