Review is kind of meh (did we need a rant against black metal purists who really are far and few in the metal community...?) but this CD looks sick.

Ordered. I love these guys. Vyl is one absolutely sick drummer. I winder if they'll ever play the rising sign live... I know they almost never play Vengeance Rising which is almost as fast and technical.

So... uhh... what's it sound like? 'Lumpy' doesn't tell me much.

kind of what you would expect from educated musicians. Very polished production and sound. You won't miss out on a note. The guitarsound is raw but clear and not very edgy. And they play fast. Very fast. The drum sound on their former album is better than this one though. IMO.
As Ross said, the vocals varies from raspy clean to deep growls.

^Thank you, sir.

EDIT: I just realized, the cover of Kolossus looks quite similar to Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion's cover.

Judging from this excerpt here, I think Rossy's 'review' is more for baiting disgruntled black metal fans than anything.

Ross is too enlightened for us, I think.

I thought exactly the same thing! It looks really really influenced from Oblivion's cover. And I have to say it looks more than great, one of those CDs that you like to put up front so you can see it everyday.

LoL black metal puritst didn't like Now Diabolical because it fucking sucked major balls. But you don't have to be a purist to understand that.

Now diabolical sucked?Ppl said the same thing for volcano...i guess that sucked as well right?...and when rebel came out ppl said it sucked cause it was so different than previous releases!I think now diabolical is outstanding (epsecially king and now diabolical) and i will give this album a try as well.IMO the problem with BM community is that they dont really accept change...they would be happy if mayhem never produced grand declaration and were still in the deathcrush era and if emperor/ihsahn still had the production of wrath of the tyrrants!

No. You're generalizing.

If I want black n'roll i listen to "I" Between Two Worlds. New Satyricon is just very unintersting and misses the energy Volcano had.

Comparing this to CoF is rather retarded and this album is pretty damn good. This and Woods of Ypres are filling my black metal fix this year.

what bothers me with this one is the tendencies to overlook flaws such as some of the fast drumming parts. Overpolished albums shouldn't contain such.
