hello, first time posting here. I have been going to this site for a few years but was just was too lazy to sign up and I finally got around to it. I have yet to find a site that is as coherent and comprehensive as this one. I also have to say I owe a lot of my cd collection to this site, great reviews. Anyway, with that aside...
I gave this its first spin tonight while I was in my room (it snowed all day today which only enhanced the atmosphere) and have to say I am impressed. I am a fan of summoning, but I have to say this beats the production on certain summoning albums (thinking minas morgul). The production was very fitting but didn't have some of the odd extremities that certain summoning albums have. Im particulary speaking of the programmed drums that took summoning, in my opinion, a couple of tries to really nail.
Despite the somewhat ridiculous cover which might mislead some people I would say this album is very balanced and keeps great coherency. There isn't anything too over the top or ridiculous that the cover might have indicated. Of course this is a hit-or-miss deal depending on your taste, but I suppose all music is like that. Overall this album was a pleasant little surprise, Ill have to check out the other re-issue as well because this was enjoyable, great atmospheres.
