Before I check this out, how overt is the thrash element compared to the black metal? Is it anything like a more symphonic version of Aura Noir? Thanketh ye.

I'd say that Act I has little of the blackened component, pretty much pure thrash with orchestral arrangements. Act II is pretty heavy on the black, blastbeats and all, more aggressive and nasty sounding. Act III emphasizes the symphonics. Act I is my favorite, although the whole album kicks an unbelievable amount of booty.

Looks like it's going to be good. I just hope it has some more of Shinichi's awesome solos, and those bits of sheer lunacy which drew me in. It sounds like it's going to be the most brutal thing they've done in a while.

What's with the obsession about hanging? Gallows Gallery, Hangman's Hymn and stuff. These guys are weird, so is their music. And awesome.

I never noticed that before. Maybe HH is supposed to be connected to GG, it's almost the polar opposite musically so maybe it's supposed to be part of some weird concept. Maybe it's just to fit in with the sequence as:

Scorn Defeat
Infidel Art
Ghastly Funeral Theaters
Hail Horror Hail

Scenario IV: Dead Dreams
Imaginary Sonicscape
Gallows Gallery
Hangman's Hymn

Notice a connection?

Well it's arrived, and after one listen, it seems very good indeed. I wasn't expecting it to be quite as full-on as it is though, it's the most brutal Sigh album by a mile.

Brilliant album and an amazing review. Im glad the reviewer mentioned the fact that the production wasnt that great on their last outing (which really bothered me); this time the production is spot on.
I just have one thing id like to mention here, I think this should be labelled under avant-garde metal. I mean if this isnt avant-garde then I dont know what is.

I didn't even realize there was a review for this album. After a couple of weeks listening to this album, I'm still noticing new things. The End Records has become one of my favorite labels now due to their odd yet awesome albums.

Looking back this album is slightly dissapointing. Acts I and II are both amazing, but III is rather dull and repetetive. It's still a great album, but I was expecting a lot more.
