Wow.... listening to their songs on their myspace page (http://www.myspace.com/dekapitator) made me feel 15 years younger!! That is trully the sound of early 90s thrash metal !! I'm not sure if I can listen to this now but it's really tempting!

Aside from a few melodic exceptions, when they aren’t downstroking or galloping, they are using tremolo to remind you of the influence that giants such as Slayer, Exodus, and Death Angel still have after all these years. There are traces of a Kirk Hammet-like style to some of the leads, and I’m still trying to find the Megadeth riff that found its way in the beginning of Run With The Pack, but for the most part, these guys wear the logos of heavier bands on their sleeves.

I totally agree with the above! I'll go even further and add that in certain songs they also sounds like early Sepultura! :dio:

This album is awesome. I pretty much agree with your review, but I'd up the notch 5%, just because of how well they pull it off.

I don't want to bitch, just a little piece of information: The dude you mentioned in the review, the guitarist, Hacksaw, didn't play on the album, he joined after the recordings. I took this from the bands' myspace page:

"Upon reconvening a couple of years ago to get things rolling again, the band recruited new guitarist D. Attacker and set to work on their new album, “The Storm Before The Calm.” After recording was completed, the band rotated second guitarists again, bringing in Jason Hacksaw (Ex-Menacer, Splatterhouse, ex-Fall Of The Bastards, etc.) to add even more power to the metal attack"

Shit.

Thanks for the heads up though.

This is awesome and right up my alley, I actually just bought this cd on the weekend when I was in the States. Got it for 13 bucks.

Lurking Fear is the thrash album of the year.

This is the secondmost thrash album of the year.

I like the new Mekong Delta, but I don't think it compares to this. Is it weird that my favourite Lurking Fear song is Allegro Furiouso?

Lurking Fear is amazing guitar/bass-wise, but the drums sound electronica and the vocals are kinda awkward @_@
