Very good album. Has some really beautiful moments. The best, for me, is the chorus in When the lights are down. It has an almost Operation: Mindcrime quality to it. Unbelievable the way the vocal melodies blend with the speedy riff to create a very emotional mix.

okay... i've been listening to The Black Halo 5 times now... and it's not bad... certainly over par... but then, I keep thinking this is a very generic effort by a very generic band... and generic bores me so, sorry Orion, but I'll stick for now with my 60/100 score though I can see what some of you like about it. it's just that i've heard it all before...

killer tracks : March of Jericho, Moonlight

Hehehe...funny.
Anyway I respect your opinion T.I.E. because i too have been quoting many albums 60-70.When i really like an album i give it a good score(like this one 100), but when there are only a couple of songs, i don't feel like giving it a 70 or 75.Such albums deserves a 50 at best.
In my simple quoting system from 1 to 5 for albums i've heard, many are scored 2/2+/3-/3 and so.Those albums only have a few songs that i would probably put in a best of CD.The rest i never get back to.
Even on MR i have been quoting less than the others for some albums(now that i've checked the others ratings).

How is this generic? Do you even know what generic means or do you just throw that word around when you want to look like you are above everybody else.

How is this generic? Do you even know what generic means or do you just throw that word around when your trying to find something wrong with an album that a lot of people like so you can look better than them? Go listen to your highly original emo metal.

it's generic as it reminds me of a lot of other bands... that doesn't say it's bad, it is not. Kamelot has potential : they write good songs, they know their shit for arrangements, the production is good and every musician within the band seems to possess great skills... so what is wrong ? bored bored bored  if I want sophisticated metal I can listen to Queensrÿche (either Empire or Promised Land), Angra (any one of their albums but their crappy debut) those band have (had for Q) the little something I'm looking for and that is missing with Kamelot : A REAL IDENTITY !

But I'll try it again and maybe will I see the light

I think it is pretty damn generic too.

....and I like Kamelot. Well, I like their older stuff.

I think you stole the wrong song, I think this proves that T.H.I.E.F. didn't buy the album.

Actually, The Black Halo reminds me very much of Operation: Mindcrime era Queensryche, for some reason. It's not quite upthere, in terms of quality, but it's not that far away either. But you think O: M is overrated, so maybe there's something about this type of albums that you don't like.

I dont think that Kamelot is a generic band, they dont sound like Queensyche, one of the things i like about them is that they have theyre own sound, and this is coming from a huge Queensryche fan, i dont see the similarities at all. How Khans sings mixed in with the musical arrangements and lyrics make this band unique, great choruses and they made 4 straight killer allbums and manage to get better each time. No theyre not revolutionay in theyre sound as is Progressive/Power metal, but i think them, Evergrey and Pagan's Mind are the best in that genre. And as for you T.I.E, well i dislike Angra totally, so totally opposite to you liking them, i just cant get into theyre music, that sounds like generic power metal to me, ive heard it all before since i started listening to power metal i got totally hooked and listened to alot of power metal bands, but it all sounds the same to me.

The only problem T.I.E. has is that he likes to share his bad opinion on many bands that are generally liked by most of the people here. For example i gave Hibria a low score for the same reason T.I.E. did with Kamelot. The difference is that i didn't go saying how bad it is.You know you like it and my opinion will make no difference to you, besides i see no reason to start an arguement about it.The problem is that you'll get angry when someone is bashing a band liked by 90% of the people and you feel it's not necessary for him to express his negative opinion.T.I.E. isn't doing this to get noticed or anything, he is just sharing his thoughts on album and it just so happens that he didn't like it and you did.His musical tastes are completely different than mine, but i don't care when he says he didn't like Kamelot. He can think whatever he wants and as soon as he say it once with his thoughts on why he didn't like it.
Well there is always the possibility for him to enjoy this and so doing it on purpose.I still haven't seen him saying anything else than his honest opinion and for that he is attacked.
And i really see no reason to attack him because he like Avenged Sevenfold.I mean so what if he likes it, good for him, but what do you care if you didn't like it.

Yeah me too, i normally dont care what he likes, and if it sucks or not , i usually keep it to myself, is his personal tastes, so w/e. But since he brought up the fact that they sound like Queensryche, just lead me to comment on Angra, thats all, is just my personal taste, so i can respect everybody's views on music and stuff. Its cool with me

yep, Kamelot is anything but generic and have unique sound and vocals. I also have difficulty getting into Angra, something is just missing there.
