St. Anger wasn't that bad. The production and the snare sound was bad, but the song kicked ass and were much more metal than Load and Reload. Were Load brought me to sleep, songs like Frantic, Dirty Window, All Within my Hands, The Unnamed Feeling or Some Kind of Monster were fresh air, compared to the last two albums before.

Nono no... Were Load and Reload made us sleep, St. Anger made us cry.

What brings a great production, a normal snare sound, if the songs are lame? Nothing...

I don't want that Metallica play Country-Rock and I don't want that AC/DC play Black Metal. Everybody should play what they do best. And Metallica can play best fast Thrash Metal.

When I'm listening to Metallica, I don't want fusion jazz or polished high gloss rock. I want that it kicks ass, and St. Anger and Death Magnetic are kicking in each case more asses than Load und Reload together. If you know what I mean.

There were some wise guys who wrote a song with great lyrics where it's all explained what it's all about:
Quote:
Late at night all systems go
You have come to see the show
We do our best You're the rest
You make it real you know
There is a feeling deep inside
That drives you fuckin' mad
A feeling of a hammerhead
You need it oh so bad

Adrenaline starts to flow
You're thrashing all around
Acting like a maniac
Whiplash

Bang your head against the stage
Like you never did before
Make it ring Make it bleed
Make it really sore
In a frenzied madness
with your leather and your spikes
Heads are bobbing all around
It is hot as hell tonight

Adrenaline starts to flow
You're thrashing all around
Acting like a maniac
Whiplash

Here on the stage the Marshal noise
is piercing through your ears
It kicks your ass kick your face
Exploding feeling nears
Now is the time to let it rip
To let it fuckin' loose
We are gathered here to im and kill
Cause this is what we choose

Adrenaline starts to flow
You're thrashing all around
Acting like a maniac
Whiplash

The show is through the metal is gone
It is time to hit the road
Another town Another gig
Again we will explode
Hotel rooms and motorways
Life out here is raw
But we will never stop
We will never quit
cause we are Metallica

Adrenaline starts to flow
You're thrashing all around
Acting like a maniac

Forget the polished sound, forget the clean vocals.

Wow this a shock 4 pages of OPINIONS yes that's right opinions you know that thing much like aholes that we all have one

It's pointless to argue back and forth on how good or bad this album is or how bad or good the review is you like this album cool you don't then cool who cares it doesn't matter what joe blow thinks it shouldn't reflect your opinion.

I haven't gotten this album yet but have listened to the sound bytes on amazon and from those sound bytes alone it sounds like this album will blow the loads and crap anger out the door when I get this album I will formulate my opinion MY OPINION.

However I am listening to the new Iced Earth album now this album rocks :D

You know what's sad about this album... the audio from a video game (Guitar Hero) sounds better than the retail album. No distortion or clipping; plus the audio wave doesn't look like a block.

Anyway, this album pretty much sucks, IMO. Though the second half of "All Nightmare Long" (before the last chorus comes in) has some really cool riffage there :dio:

(btw I'm new here... but a long time lurker  )

If its pointless to discuss and argue music, then why are you on a message board?

Discussion is one thing arguing because frank said he gave this album a 90 and sam gave it a 30 creates nothing but pointless back and forth bickering it turns threads like this into 5 pages of useless bantering opinions on why you like or dislike this album is one thing but jaw jabbering at each other back and forth on and on on why you gave this a 30 or a 70 or a 90 is worthless.

Ok, it's not so fast (except Sweet Amber, My World, St. Anger, All Within My Hands or Purify), but the Thrash is mostly back.

But sure, between St. Anger and Death Magnetics are WORLDS. And between Load/Reload and DM too.

I am going to send you a PM in the next few days with a list of twenty to thirty great thrash albums. If, after listening to a good portion of those, you still maintain that St. Anger is in any way thrashy (excluding perhaps the opening riff to Frantic, which does have some thrash potential) then I will eat your soul.

Sure I would love Metallica to play thrash but they haven't since the Black Album but listen to the Loads and St Anger and tell me that is thrash metal it isn't it's nothing but commercialized garbage.Compare their first 4 and their last 4 before DM there is a huge difference in their sound.

??? When did I say that the Loads were thrash? But St. Anger is most of the time - with deeper tuned guitars - and at least more than Load or Reload.

But DM IS the deal and a very good deal - better than anyone expcted, or not?

If St. Anger sounds like anything at all it's TRASH not thrash....
But I do agree with your statement that Death Magnetic did bring back the thrash, hopefully they'll pursue in the same direction in their future releases.
