OK, that's fine. But it's fine for you. When someone decides to take their opinion to the stage in front of an audience I think they should have their facts straight.

It's all music in the end, we both know this, but saying Earth Crisis and Refused are metalcore is VERY misleading. First off, Earth Crisis and Refused sound nothing alike, they're worlds apart! Moreover, both bands are just as separated from the likes of All That Remains and Killswitch Engage than they are from each other.

So, yeah, genres don't matter, but if you're going to bring them up you should come correct, yo.

Just because, say, Nile and Cryptopsy sound different doesn't stop them from both being Death Metal. Same here, it's a big genre, which of course will have a few duffers in (or quite a few in this case), and it's no compliment to compare them. I think metalcore fits them. Otherwise, let's bring Hatebreed into the equation and start comparing them...

Because Nile and Cryptopsy, while different, are undoubtedly death metal. Death metal is a fairly broad genre that is dictated heavily by vocal style.

You're comparing Earth Crisis and Refused to bands in a genre that takes up a teeny-tiny area of music. Metalcore is a VERY defined genre. Earth Crisis and Refused do not fit. They are not metalcore. Quit trying to change history, fact.

And Hatebreed is a hardcore band.

Wrong! The differences between Nile and Crypto go a lot deeper than vocals. And I think 'core's actually quite a large genre. Compare Johnny Truant and The Bled. Very different.

So you're going to skip over everything else I said that was specific to the discussion and comment on a little side-comment I made about death metal? I never said the difference between those two bands is the vocals. Regardless, they're both undoubtedly death metal.

Metalcore is a large genre, but a very defined genre. You're making things up.

And Johnny Truant and The Bled are both NOT metalcore, but noisy hardcore.

It doesn't matter. If you have someone that totally digs metalcore, then tell them to check out Refused or Earth Crisis because they're metalcore, you're leading that person astray.

Like I said, it's all music, but if you're going to start discussing styles of music you need to get it right.

If someone likes metalcore, what's wrong with recommending Refused to them, especially since the newer wave of metalcore bands seem to be more on the experimental side. And how is the genre defined? Metal + core. Nile are Egyptian Death Metal, Cryptopsy are Brutal Death/Grind. That's the same as being noisy hardcore or being metalcore, different children of the same genre, no?

You can recommend any band you want, but if you're telling them that Refused is a metalcore band you're wrong. That's all I'm saying.

And there's no such thing as Egyptian death metal.

I think you linked the wrong thing.

And there's still no such thing as Egyptian death metal. It's death metal.
