If you like him in Zero Hour check out his former band Power Of Omens... EXCELLENT BAND. I like them more than ZH. Anyways good band with an AMAZING singer.

I don't like Power Of Omens. To me, they're what's bad about some prog bands—too much instrumental wankery and not enough quality songwriting.

A lot of people say this, so I can't argue it. They just didn't do it for me at all. Salinas is an amazing vocalist, though.

I will acknowledge that these albums are on my Want List at lala.com. It's been a good while since I heard their albums, and admittedly, prog-metal/rock is something I've only recently gotten heavily into. I've always like certain bands, but while a lot bands in the past didn't do it for me, most don't these days. So we'll see. I'm not gonna go out of my way to buy the albums, though.

EDIT: That line makes no sense. I basically meant that I dig the majority I hear these days, while in the past I didn't.

Well for one thing, Power of Omens had something they could somewhat call their own, and thats a true virtue in prog metal, a scene filled with copycats. Their not totally unique no but they got a far more distinct mix than most bands. And yes their music is very intricate and chaotic, but at least to me the music always form a coherent whole, it's always comprendable and meaningful. I could see where you got the idea it's instrumental wankery, but you should give it more time, I mean seeing as you're so into Zero Hour and all.

I will. I've gone back to so many bands I once disliked only to like them, I could never totally turn my back on a band, unless I've given it countless spins.

Like I said, though, prog has been the genre for me for at least a year now. I had to create a prog section in my collection because I've acquired so many CDs by prog bands. We'll see what happens if I find these albums.
