Eh, pretty average. Much better than anything they've released since Divine, though. 57/100.

This has gotten better with more listens. I even like some of the groovier songs. 80/100 is probably about spot on.

If this was 1991 and we were anticipating the studio follow up for Seasons In The Abyss and along came Christ Illusion, I reckon it would be heralded as highly as 'Reign...', 'South...' & 'Seasons...' and seen as a way forward for the band.

However, it is now 2006 and the taste of 'Divine...', especially 'Undisputed...', even more especially 'Diabolus...' and 'God Hates...' has, for me-a long term Slayer fan since 1986, left me jaded with the band I once called king.

Christ Illusion sounds like an album spanning all of Slayer's career but with remastered outtakes from each release they've ever made! I am left feeling that this album should have been released fifteen years ago to complement their previous good work of the time and hint at progression.

As it stands, this album is like closing the stable door after the horse has bolted. The fact that Slayer are taking longer to produce records and 10 songs (if you ignore their recent ep) in five years is a bit miserly. Therefore, I conclude that I think it is now time for Slayer retire, because this is at least the best album they've made since Seasons and a fine note to go out on.

Another Welshman on the site!

I think if this was the follow up to Seasons, people would still see it as a step down

It may be the best thing they have done since "Insert Slayer album here" but it's still painfully average. These guys can do so much better than this bore. It's not terrible, but there's nothing about it that is all that great. It's a mediocre album that has some half-baked ideas, but never decides on just what it wants to do. A good effort for modern Slayer, but so much out there leaves this album in the dust. It's going to take more than OK if they want me to spend my money on them again.

Hail Brother!

Yep it's a step down, but with Dave Lombardo back, it feels like the Slayer of old and that's got to be worth noting that the drumming on Christ makes it the best since Seasons. Shame about the stuff that went on between that album and this.

I like this CD, and its cheap as fuck in the stores around here because of how well known they are for a metal band. I may purchase this tommorow.

Well I bought it and you know what, I really like it 75-80/100 is a good score for it. I still have to check out their old stuff though since Ive never been down that road yet, despite people telling me too (No one tells me what to do!!!)
