I thought the album was good, maybe that's because I haven't heard any Celtic Frost before.

I take back what I said about this album before. After a few listens, this album has really grown on me. It's basically Extreme Industrial, for lack of a better term. It's a really diverse album, and it's just crushingly heavy. Tom Fisher's voice has never sounded better, and the drumming is great. No, it's not To Mega Therion, but I didn't expect it to be eithier. I really can't pigenhole it into a genre, but that's a good thing in this case. The lyrics are very classic Frost, and it does pick the speed up in the appropriate places. I applaud them for making a great album of music they wanted to make, and not what some fans still living in the 80's wanted them to make. I doubt they could have pulled that off anyways.

TET-RA-GRAMMATON!

It's probably better that way. I think a lot of peoples expectations hold them back from enjoying this album. But, no it sounds nothing like their old stuff, you probably wouldn't like the old stuff.

I agree. Once I got over the initial dissapointment that it didn't do what I wanted it to do, I think it's a great album for what they chose to do with it. Tom's voice sounds great, and the production is crushing. I like the atmosphere of the whole thing, even the booklet is awesome. Though admittedly, the length is a bit much to handle, especially if you have the bonus tracks, and releasing three different versions like they did was kind of ridiculous.

And I still wish there would have been more orchestral or choral stuff, a lot of my favorite Frost moments are the result of some epic orchestrations. I mean, Os Abysmi Vel Daath was cool, but that's it?? I had hoped that at least Synagoga Satanae would have something going on, especially considering the fact that they list a choir, Peter Tatgren, and Satyr as being on the track. How misleading. Still. It's a good album, and I think has gotten a lot of crap it didn't quite deserve.

This is an excellent album. Deserves more than a mere 66/100.
