Props to the guy willing to admit Journey love on a metal forum. Journey was a great band.
As for the editorial, I liked most of it, even though a lot of it has been said before and the writer is preaching to the choir here on a metal website, but I digress
I am loyal to bands, but I'm loyal to the music more. If a band changed their style for the worse, I won't buy their new stuff, but I'll still listen to the old stuff. I faced this problem in the late 90's when most of the great Euro-doom metal bands started going electronic. Only one still sounded good in change (Paradise Lost), one went from a great band to shit (Theater of Tragedy), one turned into I-don't-know-what-but-it's-not-metal-anymore (Anathema) and the rest just lost a great something when they changed (ex: Tiamat, Tristania)
But I still listen to the older stuff
