Mrs God has a catchy chorus, almost sounds like a Pink Cream 69 song.....

How is Pink Cream 69?? I've not heard them yet. Any good?

Pink Cream 69 was Andi Deris's band before Helloween. The first two albums are really good! They sound like the European hair metal versions of the US counterparts like Dokken, Winger, Ratt, Van Halen, etc. Check out our search section for our archive reviews.

Are you mad??

Come on, Kiske era consists of Chameleon and Pink Bubbles Go Ape, easily their worst CDs. So you're saying that the Helloween and Walls Of Jericho EPs and the two Keepers albums define Helloween?? No way! The first two EPs have some really kick ass music, but are generally weak on songwriting.

Well, Walls Of Jericho wasn't an EP for one thing, and in any case, Kiske didn't feature on either it or the Helloween EP.

The Hansen era was Helloween's best, I won't dispute that. The Kiske years are a different matter - two excellent albums, two very suspect ones.

I like the Hansen era best, its heavier and more aggressive, and the soloing and guitar work is masterful. Kiske Era comes next. Their two most commercially succesful albums came out in that period.....Chameleon and the other one were complete crap, but when taken in context....that being that Keepers 1 and 2 both had Kiske and hansen on them....I don't understand how you could say that Deris/era helloween is better than Kiske's...when their two greatest albums were released in that time period. I dont care about ratios, the fact that the keepers albums had Kiske on them puts them so far above Andi Deris and the watered down shit they play now.

The mini album is still my absolute favorite, then comes Walls of Jericho then Keepers 2 and then 1. My list stops there. none of the new stuff is worthy of being on that list.

As for the Deris era, the only album I'm not convinced of is Rabbit Don't Come Easy, which I still haven't listened to in great detail. The previous four are all enjoyable and in fact displayed a great album-to-album progression.

Hansen-era on vocals?? No way in hell!

No, Hansen in the band. As in, the first three albums plus the EP.

H_T, this is at least the third time the two of us have made almost the exact same exchange of opinions. Agree to disagree?

Have you ever noticed when discussing long-running bands with people, oftentimes they claim to like the first couple albums better than everything else the band has released?

I mean, how many have said that the early Helloween is the best, the Brainstrom thread has people claiming the first two albums are the best, people say the first two Iced Earth albums are the best, too! It's weird because a lot of time it's hard to believe someone could actually believe that. It's almost like a band comes out back in the day, people really like them, but then get sick of the band and simply say the early stuff is better instead of admitting they don't really like the band anymore! Hahaha. Very strange.

Or, you know, they just like the early stuff better.

Of course, but when you have someone say that Iced Earth peaked at Night Of The Stormrider, don't you find that strange??

The Dark Saga was their lowpoint. What a boring album (except for, of course, A Question of Heaven). Luckily, Something Wicked was awesome.

I really like that album. It's their Black Album, their Countdown To Extinction, their The Ritual, and so on. Not saying they went commercial, but it's definitely the most rock-oriented album in the lot.

I think it's very underrated.

I wonder how many metal fans actually realize Helloween is a semi-Christian band.

Well, with that aside, I can't wait to hear this album being a big fan of the last three Andi Deris albums. Better Than Raw is probably one of my favorite metal albums of the late 90s.

Kiske wrote only 2 songs on the Keepers album (You Always Walk Alone & Rise and fall) which i thought were the weakest of the album. After Kai left the band, Kiske got a much more major part of the songwriting and he wanted to do rock albums instead of metal albums that the rest of the band wanted. Therefore the next 2 albums were that they were.

I think you all should thank KAI HANSEN for the Keepers albums! Indeed it's a little bit odd to do Keepers III without the biggest player in the team during KeepersI&II, but after listening to this single i really think that this can be worth its name!

Well Weikath did write roughly half of the material for the original Keepers, including the awesome title track.

Hahaha. I've always wondered that myself, I don't really think many people realize it at all!

Kiske wrote A Little Time, We Got The Right, and You Always Walk Alone. Weikath wrote Rise And Fall, which I agree is not very good.

He wrote 5 songs on Chameleon, so that leaves 7 others that were written by everyone else, so I'm not sure you can really blame Kiske for that change. I don't have Pink Bubbles Go Ape yet.

I think those songs are great. I love every song on the first four releases...none of them are weak...except for maybe Reptile on Walls of Jericho. And just because Weikath is still in the band doesnt mean that this new Keeprs allbum will be good...he's only half of the magical guitar duo that gave us the first two keepers albums....and frankly he's the lesser of the two.

Bah...there are definitely a few weak songs on those albums, more than the two you mentioned. But I guess it's possible you just like bad music!! :D :D :D 8)

Thats funny coming from a fan of Andi Deris helloween. If thats good power metal to you than you're off your rocker. Listen to Digital Warriors by Vicious Rumors....thats what power metal should sound like. Or Ample Destruction the first jag Panzer. New Helloween and most modern power metal lacks character and balls....and the power metal bands that are more aggressive....just plain suck in the most generic way possible, they can't even find good ways to suck!
