Ah, I thought you were agreeing with him.

Either way, my reply holds true. DW should give criticism instead of making dumb personal comments..

I did give criticism on the ONE song I have heard. It was boring.

End of discussion.

I do believe Boris was referring to constructive criticism of the review, seeing as how you found it unsatisfactory.

In that case I found it poorly written. The intro seems like it was just thrown together. The rest of the review explains things, but it pretty much says the same thing over and over again. He kept it short and sweet, just the way I like it. But with it being short, he barely said anything.

I got the review, it just wasn't very good.

Nothing wrong with the review. Album is very uninspired though.

Never liked the sound of this band to begin with.

It's so far my least favorite from them but its still a good fun album. Fire Up The Blades is my favorite album of theirs.

At first I really hated the album for some reason, it sounded off and I didn't know about the member changes and such so I was basically just expecting another one like the last two. But alot of the riffs and shit really grew on me and there are quite a few songs I really enjoy like: Battles and Brotherhood, Rock In Hell, Preacher's Daughter and Execution Tank. The score given is fair, personally my rating would be around an 80 give or take a few points depending on how it stands the test of time.

I loved Fire up the Blades .. so if this only got deducted because it didn't break any new ground then I'll probably like it.

Oh - and they play old school metal because they are old. I won't hold it against them.

I also deducted from the score because, at this point, the shtick gets old by the 3rd song. Also, although the harsh vocals were never good on any 3IOB album, they provided temporary breaks from Cam's high-pitched shrill.

It's amazing that this band still sounds somewhat consistent with all the member changes they have had over the last three releases. This new album is still listenable for me. However, the production is not as crisp for me like it was on the last two albums. And the slower to mid paced songs are good but somewhat detract from what attracted me to 3 Inches of Blood in the first place; fast, upbeat in your face riffs with off the wall drumming and very chaotic vocals.

While listening to the album in my car, my friend remarked that if Tenacious D were to release an album of all metal songs, it would be pretty comparable to this, and I think that is both a good and a bad thing. 3 Inches of Blood do indeed sing about the most cliché and cheesy metal topics imaginable, and much like the D, they admit that this is, in part, a tribute to the metal gods of yore. However, while Jack Black’s charisma somehow manages to remain funny and inspired (in my opinion, of course), Cam’s lyrics often sound forced—lead single Call of the Hammer being an example of laziness on his part—and the riffs too reminiscent of Manowar or Judas Priest. Additionally, while Tenacious D are very clearly a parody duo, there seems to be no such indication for this band. And if they take this kind of stuff seriously, well then….I’ll leave you to draw your own conclusions about that.

This reads like something from an AllMusic Guide review. Yuck. It's ok to sing in cliches without being a pardoy band. Jesus.

Anyway I'm going to say this might be the best 3IOB album yet. The songs all have an individual personality and it isn't just fast fast fast all the time.

Using the harsh vocals more sparingly is the best thing for them and Hagberg screaming is a big improvment over Hooper's yelps.
