Good review. I thoroughly am enjoying this album and has also piqued my interest in revisiting some of his previous solo albums.

I haven't liked much of his recent material, or prog metal generally of late, but this one surprised me. I expect it will eventually slot in behind After as my second favorite. Hubris and the Blue Devils is an early track of the year.

Yes, this recording is a genuine artistic achievement. And a well-intentioned authentic and artistic declaration. I just wish it was longer, and perhaps a bit more metallic in nature. That's all. It's just that Ihsahn has been someone that I have looked up to, for so long, during my earlier years. One of a kind release. I am thankful he is alive and doing very well for himself and still releasing good music. My best wishes to him for any foreseeable future.
