Another "back to the roots" album. Chances are it'll suck.

Well at least there was more or less an admittion that Down to Earth was shite. But I still don't have high hopes. Not that I'm too bothered either way.

Hope this won't suck as much as when Metallica tried to go 'back to the roots'.

So Zakk Wylde is now trying to emulate Randy Rhoades. This should be interesting.

May be I will give Down To Earth another chance. Facing Hell and That I Never Had were pretty good songs. I never actually purchased the album, btw. Just listened to it several times on AOL Music.

Okay, I actually had six of the 11 songs from Down To Earth burned on CD (from iTunes). I decided to buy the remaining five. So now I have the entire album.

Overall, I still stand by my opinion that it's a fairly bland album. I suppose if you've never heard Ozzy before, you might enjoy it more. But he just doesn't seem to do anything on DTE that he never did on earlier albums. Except on those albums, he had a youthful vigor missing from this album. Facing Hell, No Easy Way Out, and That I Never Had are very good songs. But other than those three, most of it is just Ozzy on auto-pilot. Gets Me Through has a heavy (almost "Zeppelin meets Soundgarden" -ish) riff, but whiny lyrics/vocals. Running Out Of Time has a good chorus, but the choir really irritates me. And so on.
. But this album I put in the same league as 'No More Tears', 'Blizzard of Ozz', and 'Diary'.
Ozzy has stated that he tought Ozzmosis was a lazy album

well here's hoping that the new album outshines the previous two, as according to to Ozzy, he didn't bother putting any effort into Ozzmosis or Back on Earth.

Zakk takes a good piss at Metallica not realising he is Sharon's bitch.

I wouldn't be so sure of that. Ozzy needs Zakk a hell of a lot more than Zakk needs Ozzy. Zakk hangs around because he and Ozzy are friends, but the success of BLS is proof enough that he isn't merely Ozzy's axeman in the public's eyes.
