I'll miss A Question of heavon, but otherwise, it looks like we'll get even more songs than initially expected.

It sounds like their press release was written knowing what Jon had already given away about the quality though, so they found a cheesy way to defend it

I'll still get it on release day though!

Well, if they're saying 5.1 DTS audio ... then I'm buying it.

I was pretty disappointed when I read about the low video quality, just three cameras and stuff. But then I realized three steady cameras are way better than having 56 cameras and wanting to use ALL OF THEM EVERY SECOND.... isn't it, Maiden ??

Maiden has all the money, so they spend all the money! :P

I'm wondering about that surround sound. Sometimes it just means they split stereo to half-and-half all the speakers without much work. Of course, I'd take it in 2.0 just to have this.

Personally I hate a million cameras! I hate seeing everything overlapped, fading in and out, flashing back and forth wicked fast! Fuck that. The less cameras, and the more steady the camera shots, the better, if you ask me.

I enjoy a good crane shot, but I get sick of over-used handhelds.

How the fuck could some footage be 'unearthed' suddenly?

Anyway, I was quite glad that Jon came clean and gave away the news about the bad video quality. It's clear that he appreciates the fans a lot and he doesn't want them to be ripped off. Hats off to Jon.

And being a massive Maiden fan, I would not defend them on how poor Dance of Death was. My eyes were aching trying to focus only to see the images shift barely a second away. They should have left things like how 'Life After Death' and 'Rock in Rio' were.

While Maiden is an awesome, energetic live band, they really have overdone the live recordings lately. Rock in Rio and Live After Death are perfect examples of younger/older Maiden on stage. There is no need for anything else for a while. In fact, I only bought the Death on the Road CD because I liked the cover

As far as Jon's coming clean, I'm glad he did. I won't be disappointed now, but I will still be glad to have some video footage of the band at its apex with Matt, even if it's cheap TV footage.

You'd be amazed at how much is documented/recorded in a band's career, only to be lost and never found, or found many years later. Just look at the new Jon Oliva's Pain album. Jon says he found a box of tapes going back to like 1979 with riffs and songs from Criss Oliva, who died 13 years ago!

It happens all the time.

If it is in 5.1 then I'm buying it. If not then BOOO, 2.0 sounds like shit on my Surround Sound System for whatever reason.

Pain of Salvations "BE" DVD comes in 4.1 surround and its the only DVD i have heard in that format. Plain and Simpl, it is the only format any music DVD should be produced in. Its the best of surround and stereo with out the voice coming from the Center channel.. Music sounds like shit in 5.1 usually.

It depends on the quality of your system, and the expertise of the person doing the Mastering. 5.1 sounds fantastic on my system when proper care is taken during the Mastering. Mine is just weak with 2.0, wether it's movies or music.

The system is out-of-control awesome. 7.1 with B&W speakers. All high end stuff. My roommoate and I are audio fanatics to some extent. We spent way too much money. I just dont prefer singers out of the center channel. Have you ever heard a 4.1 mix? I dont know if you like Pain of Salvation but if you pick up the DVD of theirs it is real impressive-musically and production wise.

No, I don't like Pain of Salvation, and I've yet to come across anything else with a 4.1 mix. I'm a music DVD enthusist though, so I'm sure I'll own one eventually.

Sounds like an awesome system. I promise that if it ever comes up missing I had nothing at all to do with it.......
