Going after hard-working steel-workers just so Lars and James can have a few more bucks. Massive, massive BOOOOOOOOOOO!

They will loose this one, no doubt about it. Fuck these guys, I'm officially calling for a boycott. You don't fuck with unions. What a bunch of retards.

Sorry. Metallica are well within their rights. They've done some dumb things, but any of you would do this. My name is Ken Wood, do you think I could get away with using kenwood.st or something without being sued? No way.

The site isn't even American in origin, and they had the domain name for a long time now. Lars stole the name Metallica from a zine in the first place. that's why they are retards. Plus, I don't see how a Steel worker's union is taking precious pennies out of Lars' pocket. I'm sure they have the right to sue, but's it's fuckiong lame, and Metallica might mean something in swedish too, there's always that.

Domain names are first come, first serve, as simple as that. It's not the unions fault Lars just did a google search the other day and barely found it.

yeah, it's like the olympic and WWF crap.. big companies muscling in on smaller ones just to show who's boss.. it may be legal and well within their rights but it's still complete fucking bullshit. it's also well within Metallica's rights to make completely fucking horrendous music but it doesn't mean they're forced to do so.

This is it. I've lost the one single drop of respect left in me against these crybaby motherfuckers in midlife crisis. Fuck Metallica! Support the Union!

Boo points for you Eyesore. And you're wrong. None of us would do this. Frankly I'm suprised you would support something like this. This is total sell out selfish bull shit. I havent respected Metallica for a long time. But now I downright hate them.

Domain names are first come, first serve, as simple as that. It's not the unions fault Lars just did a google search the other day and barely found it.

First off, saying Lars stole it is kind of silly, the dude was his friend. I got my band name from an In Flames song. Did I steal it from In Flames? It doesn't matter if it's not American in origin, Metallica is a global trademark. As for all of you blaming Metallica, Lars in particular, they don't do any of this. Their lawyers do. The lawyers for The Beatles' estate shut down Beatallica's website and the surviving members of The Beatles didn't even know about it. That's how it goes. You'll also remember that Lars was actually the person to get Beatallica's website put back online and kept them from being sued.

I don't support what has been done here, in fact I really could give a shit. Lars is a turd, St. Anger sucked ass, but whatever, they have the right to enforce their trademark. The companies name is Metallic, why did they put an "A" at the end? You don't think it's possible they're trying to drive traffic to their site/business?

I doubt they put the A there to drive traffic to their site. For all we know the head of the company may have never even heard of the band Metallica.

Beyond that, all they had to do was offer to buy the name from the company. Celebrities do it all of the time, and it would have cost them less money in the long run. This is just more bullshit from the Metallica camp(throwing everyone involved with Metallica on any level in with that). Like I said, whoever gets the name first is entitled to it.

And on the Behind the Music, Lars said he took the name without asking the guy.

You are so wrong, if you looked at the site or read the news you would have noticed that the company name IS "Förvaltnings AB Metallica".
With an "A". So that argument is crap.

This is the same as the lawsuit against Napster, maybe Metallica should concentrate on the music instead!

Well, I read Metall in the news bit. that's what I recalled when I wrote that. It doesn't matter either way, Metallica are LEGALLY within their rights, so any argument otherwise is crap. If this were Gamma Ray none of you would be arguing this. The fact is that Metallica is a registered trademark. There are no more angles. Kenwood is a registered trademark, I can't start a website on kenwood.st to promote my company even though my name is actually Ken Wood. Those are the rules.

Again, well within their rights and they were not the only band against it, but it's just so easy to hate on Metallica, huh?

Excuse me? Is "idiot" appropriate? Don't be an asshole. Am I arguing whether it's legal or not? I'm saying it's fucking legal, well within their rights, what's the fucking point of arguing about it? That's what I'm saying. If you actually read what I said it would be fairly obvious.

All this hatred towards Metallica is retarded.

if a band gets to the point where it becomes an empire of lawyers then it deserves all the scorn we can muster. this simply isn't what music's about, and this Sue! Sue! Sue! bullshit is what's retarded.

FUCK METALLICA.
