Holy shit! They had better play the Northeast! Tracy said that Devin wouldn't be able to do the tour because of the recording of the new SYL album. This is awesome news. DTD and Dark Tranquillity! Holy fuck!

I still have only heard Ghost Reveries by Opeth, but that album kicks ass! This is going to be awesome!!

I intend on buying them all. Death metal has always been hit or miss with me and what I'd heard of Opeth I never cared for. Probably because I didn't really give it a chance, but after listening to people praise the band so much I picked up the new album and I love it.

So, I will buy the other albums. I just have to find them used.

Oh, hell yes. I am going. I don't care where or how but I am GOING. I saw Opeth last time they toured a few months ago with Pelican. This show looks like it is going to be even better :D .

If you must buy an Opeth album, buy Still Life. It's the natural end of their sound, everything they've done since is a retread in one way, shape, or form.

This is news to wake up to. I doubt they'll come to Omaha, we don't have a decent venue to support such an act, but hopefully they'll come relatively close.

You know, I'm just going to probably buy all the pre-Blackwater Park albums first because it seems like everyone is suggesting a different album before Blackwater Park as being their best. So, I'll get those first, then Blackwater Park, and then Damnation and Deliverance. Of course, if I come across them used I'll show no preferential treatment.

None of their later albums are a "retread." At least they aren't any more than any other metal band you listen to. Honestly, I believe Blackwater Park is their best. It contains many of their best songs and is one of the best cds I've ever heard. BWP is the only album where every riff, every solo, and every note sung is perfect. With nearly all the albums I own, I can imagine how this part or that part could have been improved by playing something different. Not with BWP, though. Most people I know seem to like it the most as well.

Yes, they are.

Harvest would be better if it were two minutes long.

The piano part at the end of Leper Affinity is lame.

Patterns in the Ivy should not exist.

Dirge for November is probably Opeth's worst song.

etc, etc.

Not every other metal band is marketed as being the most innovative band of the new generation by their hordes of zombie-drone fans.

What, you like the same two minutes worth of material repeated twice just to make sure it's long?

WASP writes more emotive piano parts than that one.

Patterns in the Ivy is worthless, fails to create any mood, and is basically a rehash of the 53725 other acoustic songs they've done.

Dirge for November is their most jarringly structured song and the vocals are horrible. It sounds like it was slapped together in 33 seconds max.

etc, etc.
