 Already?? Hopefully it'll be better than FIT. And when did they leave Roadrunner? I missed that!

I'm glad they're still around, but then I already have 4 Obituary albums, and they're not the kind of band that changes enough to make owning a fifth worthwhile. The new one will probably be cool, but it will also probably be very similar to the rest of their stuff.

Hmm, the only recorded track I heard off FiT was Insane, but I saw them live over the summer and they played a few new ones in that set. The reason I didn't want to get the record was just because it was the same old style. Good, but nothing we haven't already heard. They did groove on it, but I've always regarded Obituary as one of the "Grooviest" metal bands around anyway.

I don't mean that in a bad way: To me a "Groove" is just a slow to mid tempo repetitive section that gets your head going. :)

I've got the first two albums, to my mind never beaten, and I don't think they ever will be. Unless they go prog (which I can't see, them being basically a bunch o'rednecks) I doubt I'll get any more albums.

I think "Dead" is a great live album actually. Since getting that it's become the album I listen to the most of theirs. The sound is rawer, but still very clear. So you have most of the "hits", just with a bit more atmosphere and a cooler sound. Quite an achievement for a concept as flawed as a "live album".

Maybe I'll check it out. The only Live album I have at present is a Pearl Jam one.
Funny, recent reports I've seen have said they're crap live. Maybe too long away from the game?

Well, when I saw them they were fine. Plenty of energy, no really noticeable fuck ups. It did get a bit samey, but then would you expect any different? They came through in the end with Slowly We Rot which made me go all tingly :D

Is the Live album a double-disker, or just the one? I'm not shelling out £20-odd for it...

Just the one. Probably fairly mid-price I reckon.

Pay about £6-7... I reckon if you have the first two it's not worth much more than that.

I'll keep an eye out. Several items on my list before that, like the new Meads Of Asphodel. "Creed Of Abraham" is actually a pretty damn good song, the use of breakdowns is awesome.
