Music should sometimes be a weapon.

But there are people that don't understand the diference between what is the music as weapon (also entertaining), and the entertainement music sometimes wrongfully used as weapon.

Examples (music as weapon):
Rage against the machine
Sepultura
Some Punk Rock
Exodus
Some metallica
Megadeth ... The list goes on....
Painstruck
Kreator

Examples (entertaing music as a wrong weapon)
Marduk
Deicide
Morbid angel
The list goes on too...

People should now the diference between what is and what isn't a significant message against something. The main problem is normaly bad interpertacion of the lyrics... they don't read very well

OK. Deicide has a music called "Kill the Christians", it is a good song in my opinon but I don't think they will Kill christians, Its figurative... it is meant to be a message against the christianity, but not exacly a message to kill.

And even if it were, GROW UP...

That's my opinion anyway. And opinions are like asss holes, everybody has one.

Beast of Satan. ..     AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Stupidity has no boundaries...

Music can be used for wrong, obviously -> Skrewdriver. But banning it isn't the answer at all.

Anyone see the program?

That guy who says Death Metal should be banned is half retarded. "Blah blah blah, it causes kids to murder each other!"

BULLSHIT

That's just what those other half retards say about video game violence.

Just because some stupid fucking kids go out and beat someone to death with a pipe because Deicide told them to doesn't mean that Death Metal should be banned for EVERYONE, including the smarter, more mature, and less retarded ones. Just give those stupid fucking kids the chair. Boom. Two less idiots in the world.

The music these boys and girls listened to was Black Metal, not Death Metal. I read a better informed article on this over a year ago.

Oh and please, to whoever enters this news: pay attention to typographic matters, as this article is completely unreadable.

I thought it did well until we got to that pair of WASPs calling Slayer "Death Metal Music Lyrics."

The stuff in Milan was horrifying - these kids obviously did kill because they had submerged themselves in a lifestyle they had created based around extreme Metal. Obviously the music isn't evil and didn't make thme do it - but the sick bastards chose to interpret it in such a way as to justify their actions.

The Norwegian family were probably the best part of the programme, only beacuse of their breathtaking normality.

The documentary pissed me off because it was an attempt to shift responsibility for the shit those kids got up to directly onto Death Metal, as if they were all totally normal and adjusted until they listened to Cannibal Corpse, whereupon a terrible transformation occured...

Totally fucking hysterical "please think of the children" bullshit, without any serious attempt to actually understand what metal is about.

Every step of the way it was easy target after easy target. Why not do a documentary on whether Hip Hop glorifies violence, and misogyny, and makes people aggressive? Because Hip Hop is too mainstream and it has the mainstream media sucking it off on a regular basis... Whereas metal is still, at best, patronised- and at worst despised by those same sources. Why not make a documentary examining how the music of the Beatles inspirted the Manson Family to kill people? Because we all love the Beatles. Whereas Metal is so "other" to most people, that any hack can turn it into this bogeyman to scare the shit out of uninformed parents...

You know what would be interesting? If they had actually made a detailed investigation into Black Metal subculture and discovered the depth of extremist fascistic beliefs and "intellectual racialism" that run through it. Now there's something worth writing about. But these filmmakers would never even realised such a goldmine of subject matter existed, because they were incapable of doing anything more than scratching the surface in search of a tired story that anyone with a passing interest in the genre has heard a thousand times. Apparently, some guy called Varg killed another guy he was in a band with! Quick everyone, let's all gather round and gawp at the freak show that is EXTREME SATANIC HEAVY METAL MUSIC.

So, that's why I thought it blew  :D

I didn't say I agreed with it. :? I'm saying the "Metal = Evil" bandwagon didn't get into full swing until the 'action' shifted from Milan.

Well I didn't mean to imply that you did, it's just that for some reason your post inspired me to go on a rant more than anyone elses. Not a rant against you or anything, just a general rant.

After reading that article, I don't think death metal was portrayed fairly. But I think it's understandable for the media/parents/what-have-you to be suspicious of DM. If the reporters had actually made an attempt to find out what DM is truly about, what do you think they'd find? That it's uplifting, healthy music for the minds of already-troubled youth? Doubt it.

I like DM but I don't think it's as "misunderstood" as many metalheads would like to believe.

Didn't they do one about Manson recently? I don't know if it had the Beatles related stuff in it, but thought you'd be interested, Rio (you sick fuck)

Did anyone see that American documentary they made about Black Metal? Can't remember the title, but Averse Sefira were in it.

Hmm... Actually ages ago I bought "The Manson Family" on DVD but I still haven't watched it yet... Curse my backlog of films that I don't have time to watch
