This is great news. Focus on classic sound? Sounds like a return to his debut. Can't wait.

No one else excited about this news?

Absolutely; although Das S was a bit of a let-down after the previous, terrific albums, and tbh I'd rather he followed After up than the debut, which was good but a bit too much in love with King Diamond for me. Still, it'll certainly be worth listening to, whatever he produces.

Good point. Maybe that's one of the reason I love that album so much that I purchased it again. I was listening to "After" today and realizing once again what a brilliant record it is. Come to think of it, I would rather see a progression more towards the melodic taste and the traditional riffage of "The Adversary," combined with the progressive fruits of After. Like you said, whatever he produces is well-worth listening to. It is definitely the most anticipated album of 2016 for me no matter whatever comes after the release date. Yes, yes... I'm a fanboy.

At least you admit it! As much as I like and respect Ihsahn, I could take or leave his non-After solo stuff.

I thought at one point you liked "Eremita"? But then again, I vaguely remember you changing your opinion a few times. Must go back and read the review thread.

EDIT: Just revisited the thread. You weren't the biggest fan of Eremita, were you? I haven't heard it since its inception, either. Maybe a few times after that. Not the greatest sign. Oh well, Hope for the best for this forthcoming album.

Yeah, need to hear Eremita again, but from memory it was Das Seelenbrechen which I found more lacking.

Yes, SCM, I originally liked Eremita and then trapt pointed out an incredibly dumb lyric which unraveled my whole like for the recording. I should try it again sometime though.

Hilarious.

I think it was like: "Something old, something new, something BLUE!" After you pointed it out it spun in my head repeatedly whenever I thought about listening to that release again. haha
