Listen to this when I'm not at a coffee shop. Hope it isn't more CoF worship.

I'm actually pretty impressed. Seems like they're making more of their own style here, less black metal all around and more like oriental death metal.

They've finally decided to use Chinese instead of just redoing everything for the English audience.

Sounds good, better that what I heard from their last one. Might pick this up!

Wow. This single track was better than their whole last album.

This new song is really good. I like when bands gets nationalistic, and the chick is so fuckin' hot...

What? Did I employ an incorrect term?

If this band were white, and celebrating special forces within the Wehrmacht, waxing poetic about 'nationalism' would be couched in very different terms.

And yes, I realize they aren't going "Rah, rah, Imperial Japan forever."

Not a bad track, but nothing special either. 5.5/10.

It's remarkable how unremarkable this band is getting from release to release. They always release quality stuff but I think that Seediq Bale and RR will stay the only albums of theirs in my collection for a while.

You will be more impressed and touched if you understand the histroy of Taiwan when Japanese forced Taiwanese to fight for them during WW2, numerous Taiwanese were reluctant to leave the one they loved. This song vividly depicted the despair and sorrow while departure which is so powerful! The lyrics of the chorus were all written in Taiwanese and the most heartrending part in my opinion will be in 3:00 which I was overwhelmed by the sheer beauty and sorrow of the lyrics.
the lyrics means as following:
You waved farewell with tears to the ships in the dock
please wait for my return of glory
to achieve our unfulfilled dreams ...

Pretext should make a good song more interesting, not an interesting song good.
