Holy fucking shit.

My favourite vocalist of all time. I was really, really, hoping he would overcome this bout with cancer....this is very much a shock, his family provided an update in March and said that his tumour had become considerably smaller and that he was doing well. Didn't expect this at all.

RIP, Ronnie.
The world just lost one of the greatest ever, and got a little bleaker.

Wherever you are, thank you for gracing us all with your steel belted godly voice.

R.I.P Ronnie James Dio

A true legend and one of the founding fathers of Heavy Metal.

Loved and followed by millions, an inspiaration to all.

The earth may have gotten a lot sadder, but the afterlife just got a a hell of a lot better with Dio in town.

You will be missed!

Holy Diver was one of the first metal albums I bought and grew to love and this upsets me greatly. The man was and will always be a legend and he will be missed by me and millions of others. RIP :dio: :dio: :dio: (some Dios for Dio)

I'm really upset about this. Dio is my favourite singer of all time. With his passing, a bit of the magic still left in this world just faded away.

Dio, you're the greatest and you will be missed. Thank you so much for creating such amazing music that became such a huge part of my life.

RIP

He was genuinely one of the good guys of metal with no rockstar nonsense about him at all. He deserved to live to be 97 in good health, retiring to some beautiful farm.

This is just... terrible. There's hardly a more iconic and legendary figure in heavy metal and now he's suddenly gone.

I gave a copy of Holy Diver to my stepbrother for Christmas and he never opened it. Next time I see him I'm MAKING him open and listen to it.

I can't believe I had an opportunity to see him with Heaven and Hell last summer and missed it. Ugh. Goodbye, Ronnie. I will miss you. We all will. *raises horns*

I care not one whit what some anonymous grease stain writing for the ever shallow mainstream press for an even shallower audience more interested in the latest Hollywood infedility scandal than anything else has to say about one of the most talented, humble and gracious people to ever sing.

And neither should you.

The world of Heavy Metal just lost a God. RIP Dio.

And to think people made a big deal out of Michael Jackson.

Well MJ was an international mega star that sold hundreds of millions of records including the best selling record of all time Thriller so that's expected from someone with his celebrity status.
