Well, as I feared they slipped into been there done that territory. Hell is Empty was so good, seems like they can't do a decent follow up.

Even that opening reminded me of I think Submission for the Weak's scream and then the clean chorus kicks in and it's like "oh never heard that before"

It is your own fault and unrealistic expectation if you expected them to depart from their signature sound. They do what they do and they do it very well. This song is awesome. Some bands renew themselves, some bands stick to a formula and try to improve it. Don't blame them for your own stupidity.

I'm with Kathaarian on this. They're not pushing their boundaries in any way whatsoever, but the song absolutely slays. And that's all I want from Anaal Nathrakh. I'm looking forward to the new album. And who knows, they might have changed things up little after all. We've only heard one song so far.

There is a difference between signature sound and literally repeating themselves. I've liked everything they've done up to this point but this seemed literally rehashed.

One song is not enough to make that judgement. Even though I am not expecting any surprises from the rest of the album, but no one complains when some bands release the same kind of music repeatedly. There are plenty of bands pushing the boundaries of black metal and we can always go listen to them. But if you want a ferocious attack of hyper fast black metal, AN fills the need.

If you're going to post a song to get interest, don't post a song that sounds like the same fucking thing they put out before, and before that and before that! Put out something that sounds A BIT different then maybe ill be slightly interested. Don't get me wrong its a good song but I dont feel like buying the same cd i bought years ago

Waiting to hear rest of album before I pass judgement, but leaning towards Trapt and Hottaco's view so far. They've made the same album since Domine, and up until now have done it well enough to be enjoyable - will they always be able to do this? We'll see.
