I'd love to do it but there are two reasons why I won't:

1.) nobody will take me seriously

2.) I just don't have the time to write at least 2 reviews a week

but hey, if you're really desperate, I'll give it a shot

I'd feel quite comfortable writing reviews.

Only problem is I don't really listen to very many metal genres.

It depends on how many thrash and NWOBHM reviews you want, hehe.

I'm interested. Do submissions have to be done soon? Like I might want to postpone doing it for a week or so due to my schedule.

I'll give it a shot; I'll submit my entries whenever they are requested.

If the post is still open by mid June, I'd like to give it a go, I'm into all genres except for metalcore and nu metal.

Just a suggestion but could one or two of the new reviewers (whoever ends up being picked) be focused on doing review suggestions from The Request Zone? Obviously they shouldn't be restricted to just that list but if one or two albums can be taken off every week that'd be pretty good.

Just one word of a friendly advice for forumites who are jumping at this opportunity. We would love to see you join, but, please, before you do, make sure that no time conflict (and I understand there could be many) jumps up almost immediately after and you are unable to deliver. Just like you now enjoy reading and discussing a healthy, numberwise, output, it would suck rocks if you were a part of MR staff and unable to deliver your part. Then, the output would go down, and you current fellow readers would be put at a disadvantage since you are unable to pull your part. Writing should not be a burden or heavy responsibility, but it is a commitment. A self-imposed one at that. Please make sure you can handle.

With that, I am sure Zad is going to welcome any submissions.

And once you join, you will see why it is difficult to get from under The Request Zone backlog, when all of the labels/bands, etc. are going to be counting on your support for their most recent releases.

Two reviews a week is hardly a burden; but would the writer be asked to do interviews as well?

Interview requests don't come up all that often honestly, so no. Most of the interviews are people using their label contacts to request them and do them on their own.

Oh, and don't take this the wrong way, but everyone says that two a week is no big deal when they first want in, and only about 1 in 5 new reviewers stick with it for more than a month. Again, not saying you wouldn't be able to deliver on your promise, but just be prepared for it to be more difficult than you originally thought.

Everything Alex n'Adam said, of course.

Feel free to apply, fo'shure. The next stage in the application process involves sending sample reviews anyways, so (assuming you can fit in with said schedule) get that email sent.

@ Thrash - surely there's enough Thrash and NWOBHM to cover? Feel free to apply, the moar the merrier.

I was thinking maybe you guys could accept two reviewers, one could tackle newer releases, while the other gets the backload of requested ones? What do you think of that Zad? I don't believe it effects the readers; as one would cover the obvious newer albums readers want an opinion of, while the other gets the archived releases just to clear the forum requests

Well, hopefully we'll get more than two new reviewers, for a start! And I don't like to restrict people - rare is the Metalhead who refuses to listen to anything new, and equally rare is the 'head who refuses to listen to anything old. People have differing tastes at differing times, and as long as we continue to highlight the Request Zone I don't see why we should restrict it to just one reviewer. All should be able and willing to do reviews from it, just as all should be able and willing to take on random promotional requests from labels.

When is the deadline for the samples, I have no immediate access to wireless, with the exception of my fiance's phone.

No deadline as of yet, but obviously the sooner the better.
