Hopefully the production is better than the last two albums.

Won't be out till 2011? C'mon man. I waited for 2010 thinking that a new Maiden album will come out. I guess this is the first time in Maiden's history that they will be releasing their next studio album after a gap of almost 5 years. So, they have 8 tracks and are planning for some more? Shouldn't 8 songs be enough? I just hope the album isn't too long like AMOLAD.

So basically what they're saying is:

a) These 8 songs aren't good enough to make an album on their own

OR

b) The album wouldn't be long enough so they're gonna add FILLER in the studio.

I think Maiden should stick to playing their back catalogue. They lost their songwriting talent after FotD

 After FotD??? BNW or AMoLaD are far better than FotD, that has one masterpiece, 3-4 good to acceptable songs, and a lot of crap. And NPftD is worst, is, imo, the worst Maiden, worse than Virtual XI.

Hmm... Let me see. Be Quick Or Be Dead, From Here To Eternity, Afraid To Shoot Strangers, Wasting Love, Judas Be My Guide, The Apparition (Yeah, I know many people hate it, but I love it) and Fear Of The Dark. So, that's 7 great to classic tracks IMO. The only really weak tracks on that album I think are Chains Of Misery and Weekend Warrior, though the later has its moments in the solo. Agreed with your opinion on NPFTD. Virtual XI is a touch better.

Glad to hear Maiden's going to do something a little different with this record. AMOLAD IMO sounded too much like a standard "modern Maiden" album with the songs needlessly stretched a few extra minutes in length. And one can only hear so many "C-D-E" lines before going insane.

Can't wait!

Not at all, I loved it; exactly the sort of mature album that elder statesmen like Maiden should be making at this stage in their career.

It was a good album, don't get me wrong. I just think it was a missed opportunity.

Likewise. And the lengths of the songs didn't bother me at all.

I also loved AMOLAD, but the production was "stale". Previous album was also well written, but the production was muddy. Wonder how Maiden would sound with Andy Sneap in control?

It took a long time for me to really appreciate and enjoy it. My only complaint lies with 'Lord of Light' and 'The Legacy'. I can't stand either song at all. Hhmm, and the chorus in 'For The Greater Good of God' gets repeated ad nauseum but it's still a killer song.

Like a generic metal band would be my guess, i loved the production on AMOLAD, it has a live feeling to it.

You really think so? Loved the heavy, sharp production on Exodus and Nevermore. His prodcutions from the albums I own by "him" are perfect.

Maidens last two albums just werent that good production wise in my humble opinion.

Maiden is like sex and pizza. Even when it's bad, it's still pretty good. That said, I like the album a great deal. Songs were too damn long though.
