Looking forward to it. I liked UA. If this album is musically the same, but has songs better than UA, I would be more than happy.

I love Dave's subject matter.. at times his lyrics seem a bit over the top but history keeps repeating itself and proving him right all over again. I remember being at a concert about 3-4 years ago singing "Peace Sells .. But Who's Buying" with some real conviction.

'Cept that now he's a gun-totin', UN-hating, praise-the-lord-and-pass-the-ammo, "protect our freedoms by killing arabs", born again right wing nut. So fuck his lyrics.

I think all this makes his lyrics even better.

New Megadeth :dio:

United Nations. He even got a letter from them criticizing his defamatory lyrics. He wrote back in true redneck style and completely embarrassed himself.

Why would they even waste time writing some guy in some band telling him how much they don't like his lyrics? You'd think the United Nations would have better things to do.

The letters were even posted on the forum at a certain point. They wrote him because his lyrics contained deliberate defamation, slander and misinformation, and they were afraid that people would actually listen to Mustaine. He was prominent enough for the UN to hear his stuff, anyway.

"And now as we are nearing the completion of the new record, I will tell you, it is fast, it is heavy, there is singing, yelling, speaking, and guest voices (maybe not singing — more like in 'Captive Honor'), the soloing is insane, and I am just starting my parts and so far I have been playing like mad! Both of the two solos I have gotten down are as fast as anything I have played on.

Hm, sounds interesting, although quite often this type of thing falls flat on its arse. Captive Honour is really cool though so let's see.

There are also songs like '1320' a song about nitro fuel funny cars (something I enjoy), 'How The Story Ends' and 'This Day We Fight', both inspired by warrior creed from the great Sun Tzu with the use of drums and flags in ancient war, and an impassioned plea from Aragorn to his loyal fighters in 'Lord of the Rings' trilogy, respectively.

Righto, Dave

I also have some bizarre songs like 'Headcrusher' which is about the medieval torture device, and 'Endgame' which is about a bill that ex-President George W. Bush signed into law that gave him the power to put American citizens in concentration camps that are actually called 'detention centers' here in the United States, and a favorite lyric of mine on this record about the North Hollywood bank robbery of 1997 (or 1998)."

I love how Fridge completely ignored this bit. Dave may not be a fan of the UN (a nice idea, but nothing like it should be) or Muslim terrorists (who is?) but he's up to date on exactly what a mental G.W.B. was.

It's nice (or so I think) to see how enthusiastic Dave is about it. He's been putting updates out for a while now (most containing nothing worth posting here) and it seems that he's put a lot into this album. Looking forwards.

I didn't read that. Knowing that Dubya was mental is hardly a great feat of political acuteness, though, is it?

Heck, it's leaps and bounds beyond the crap Dave was spouting around the time of UA. I'm sure he was taken out of context with all the 'I've shaken the President's hand' stuff and it was 'whoa, Thrash Metal in the White House!' rather than forelock-tugging, but Dave isn't the idiot people like to portray him as.

Btw, I mentioned this at the time as well, but in that Terrorizer interview where he goes on about shaking the president's hand, he was actually talking about Clinton. (IIRC).

The legislation he "helped to pass" was some kind of thing encouraging young people to vote.

Ah well then, I thought they might have taken him out of context. More proof of Clinton's coolness.

Twas a joke .. UN hasn't done much other than stay out of harm's way in a while, which was the point of the song I thought. As a humanitarian organization I think they do good works, but as a military force they should really just drop the charade.

Alex Jones - radioshow host, documentary film maker and the founder of the 911 truth movement - interviewed David Mustaine on his radio show last year and told him that he was a big fan and Megadeth had been a source of inspiration for him. David Mustaine said he was a big fan of Alex Jones and told him that he admire him on his fight against corruption. Alex asked which of his movies he had seen, David answered that he had seen a few, but he had not seen his, at that time, latest documentary ENDGAME - Blueprint for Global Enslavement. Alex asked if he would be interested to see the documentary and David said he would love too, Alex promised to mail him a copy and now it seems like David dedicated one song to that documentary.

All Alex Jones films are non copyrighted and Alex Jones does actually encourage people to copy his movies because he thinks its his calling to wake up people to fight off tyranny and corruption. Both the Mustaine interview as well as the documentary can be found on Youtube.

Too bad Alex Jones does no conspiracy theories, he just plainly reports what he finds out on governmental websites and what bodies like Council of Foreign Relation, Trilateral Commission and Bilderberg plan. He is no Jordan Maxwell or David Icke who basically think that reptilians from planet Nibiru has interbred with humans and formed the reptilian-human species who are now in control of this planet and now and then shapeshift and there are tons of these shapeshifting videos on youtube. I think that could be considered hilarious, but rather sad since they are closely linked to people like AJ and makes him also look like a conspiracy nut.
